cos a while back there was someone on here who spent £130 on children's clothes and had to pay £84!!!

that must have been wrong NA cos you don't have to pay VAT for childrens clothes.
It's roughly 20% customs charge plus 17.5% vat as far as I understand it. The only other charges are from Royal Mail (handling costs!!)
I think if you budgeted £50 you'd be okay.

apparently there was an extra 15% for something which made it up to 45% in total.

I have never had to pay that much!! But you could look up HM Customs & Excise web page and have a look?

i had to pay VAT plus fixed rate handling fee to royal mail this was £8.

Not sure? What I said before was what the man at the post office told me and it worked out to be about the same amount as i had to pay.
