Really sorry to hear about your situation. Can you write a list of what REALLY needs doing before you move in and just stick to that? If you just make it 'livable in' for Christmas then you can always tackle the decorating in bits after that - tinsel and fairy lights can do wonders for a half-decorated house! We had to move into our house just before Christmas three years ago and it had no carpets/doors/furniture - we used blankets for 'doors' and just made sure everything was clean. We also concentrated on getting one room 'nice' for Christmas - the lounge - so we could spend time there and not feel like we were living in a building site.
(Sorry if this kind of boring advice is the last thing you want to hear!)
How old are your lovely babies? We are having to 'prune' some gifts we've got because we have six grandparents and we have the only grandchild in either family (= spoilt). You'd be doing us a BIG favour if you could give me an address to post some nice things to....
