can I help with presents , where abouts in the country are you and what ages are your children, boys or girls. Me and my sister have just had a massive clearance and have lots of great stuff our kids have outgrown

Am I right in thinking you also have a young baby too? If that's the case - also happy to help out with presents, etc. We have loads of stuff that dd (14 months) no longer uses that I would be happy to give you to. Can't remember if you have a new dd or ds - but if it's a dd, I also have some very good quality and hardly worn clothes you could have which might free up some cash for you to buy something for your older dd.

Let me know and I'd be happy to send you some details....

Just looked back to thebirth announcements and see that you have a new ds....guess he won't suit pink and lilac then!! The offer of some toys for a newborn still stands though....

I could maybe help with presents too, have had a big clearout and have stuff for boys (baby bits and toys for boys up to 4 years old)

Harman, I've got some brand new toys which I would be very happy to send you and I don't expect anything at all in return. Over the course of the year, I buy stuff in sales as I see them and confess that this year I overdid it . So I've got stuff which I can't really save for next Christmas because ds1 will have outgrown them. The sort of stuff I have would be suitable for ages 3 to 6 or 7.

Really sorry to hear about your situation. Can you write a list of what REALLY needs doing before you move in and just stick to that? If you just make it 'livable in' for Christmas then you can always tackle the decorating in bits after that - tinsel and fairy lights can do wonders for a half-decorated house! We had to move into our house just before Christmas three years ago and it had no carpets/doors/furniture - we used blankets for 'doors' and just made sure everything was clean. We also concentrated on getting one room 'nice' for Christmas - the lounge - so we could spend time there and not feel like we were living in a building site.

(Sorry if this kind of boring advice is the last thing you want to hear!)

How old are your lovely babies? We are having to 'prune' some gifts we've got because we have six grandparents and we have the only grandchild in either family (= spoilt). You'd be doing us a BIG favour if you could give me an address to post some nice things to....

harman - what do the housing trust say about the situation, are they sympathetic at all? CAB should be able to help you with this, and may be able to talk to the housing trust for you and come to an agreement that the rent will be paid when the situation with your ex-p is sorted out. Is the house that you have a stake in being sold? or are you waiting for payment from ex-P?

Have you written to housing trust explaining the situation?

Speak to CAB .. I believe they have financial experts who can help you approach people

I also have a gorgeous wooden rocking horse that my children are scared of. You can have it for a christmas present for one of yours if you want?

oh its just bloody ridiculous isnt it? have you been to CAB though? they are very helpful

If he has no money then how does he expect to buy your share? Can you force the sale of the house at all? Are you getting money from him for the children?
Again, as Fio2 says if you haven't already do try CAB as they may have some ideas that will help.
Sorry its all so difficult at the moment.

Just to say also, that i kow 3 people who have recieved eviction notices whilst waiting and waiting for their housing benefit to be sorted out. They all went to CAB who contacted the housing assocations and the benefits people for them and it was all fine.

Sorry, have no legal knowledge Harman and also that you're having such a rough ride with all this. I also wondered if you can force the sale of the house, but other than that........Freckle knows more about these things. Would also advise going to CAB - they're very good about knowing your rights and entitlements etc.

Harman - I have quite a few nice rugs and curtains that I will be getting rid of so please let me know if they would be any use to you! They are all quite nice but the rugs could do with a wash! I live in Kent so getting them to you shouldn't be too much of a problem!

I'm afraid I have to practical knowledge to offer, but do hope that you find some solutions such that you can find some peace of mind! You've had a tough enough time of it already!
