what sort of work are you looking for? we had someone go in just tio sit and chat with us residents. we found it easier to talk to her than the workers sometimes. she was in a refuge herself.

probably along those lines misdee, although im keen to work with pregnant women involved in domestic violence more so. dont want to get out of my depth iykwim, i have been in an abusive relationship years ago, but dont want to offer help to somebody and for them to think im useless!! im really keen to do this and it will help me no end for applying for uni and its an area that imreally interested in. any advice you could give would be great.
thanks for replying so quickley!!

i dont know if pregannt women get offered different shelters to people who arent, but we had a young girl who was pregannt at the refuge i was at. (i have to be careful not to give details away). it was obviously an emotional time for her, but she is doing good (still in contact, tho drfting a bit now we have both moved on from that stage). Like i said, the best thing we found was having someone come in, who didnt live with us, who we could just pour out our woes to, have a cuppa and just chat. I know one of the residents needed this more than others. i was very busy most of the time with 2 kids to watch, but this lady had no kids so spent a lot of time thinking about things.
