ok so I have super smart and jeans/cprds
I raarely wear anyhting else but am increasingly needing smart casula
my problme is that I klke veryplain clothes sort of sporty casual ( not trainers) but not frilly, so monsoon etc is NO good
i also find not trousers fitme
I am a 31 " inside leg and have quite thin thighgs so wide trousers dont suit and I am short int eh body so a lot of trousers end up by my arppits

ran rantrant

a brilliant pair of black trousers and a few 'pretty', trendy tops? Also a slightly glam scarf or a big necklace dresses things up a bit.

My fave smart/casual outfit (for voluntary meetings in the evenings and I often have to go to private views at galleries) is opaque tights, boots, black cord 'gypsy' skirt (you know those kind of tiered ones, it comes to the knee) and a cotton jersey top. And a necklace. Too smart?

motherinferior · 09/11/2004 13:38

Hipster-ish trousers help IMO (I have v short body too, so I know exactly what you mean). Monsoon is actually doing some very, very nice cords - are those out of the question? You wouldn't do skirts, would you?

motherinferior · 09/11/2004 13:41

How casual, how smart? Jeans with nice boots (and look on the bright side, Mizz Flipperfeet here can't do nice boots) not an option? Nice velvet jacket?

enid · 09/11/2004 13:45

Ooh, yes, I've got smart jeans, pointy flat shoes and a velvet jacket as a smart/cas option too.

codswallop · 09/11/2004 13:59

yes have goo d legs so may buy a new pair of boots, short skirts good, its just the exoense I suppose of forking out 70 quid on boots and then all added up its 200 quid.

not evening wear, I can do that

am feeling disillusioned

I bought the worlds most fabulous shoes from Office - they are bronze and super-pointy and flat.

codswallop · 09/11/2004 14:13

dont like flat

If you have good legs its a crime not to wear a short skirt and boots IMO.

motherinferior · 09/11/2004 14:34

You minx. A minx AND a fox. Wowee.

codswallop · 09/11/2004 14:40

I've got four pairs of the same trouser in different colours from Phase 8, 3 soft jackets and black and white T shirts a plenty, worn with flat boots or shoes.

White from John Lewis is good for soft jackets.

For posh, I add fancy scarf and heels.

Sorted!!!!!

codswallop · 12/11/2004 19:45

I live in skirts and boots at the moment. Mainly flat ones, but I envy those looking glam in heeled boots. I love the roundtoe ones that are around at the moment.

posyhairdresser · 12/11/2004 19:49

Enid is SO right. Get some skirts and boots and then WEAR THEM A LOT.

YOU ARE A GIRL IN A HOUSE FULL OF BLOKES. TOO MANY TROUSERS WILL MAKE YOU AN HONORARY BLOKE.

FOX OUT.

codswallop · 12/11/2004 19:51

fox out!
lol yes am getting boots so will
I cnat wear skirts all t he time thougha s running after small boys etc but will make effort.

( i woudl ike to add that I ma not a total fashion ingenue but was just struggling on t hsi one!)

posyhairdresser · 12/11/2004 19:54

Coddy I know you do fashion that is why I have bothered to reply to your post!

I recommend forcing yourself to wear skirts for 14 days in a row to see if it can be combined with mincing around after the boys. I think it can. Running needs short skirts and flat boots.

Fox on.

Jennisaurus · 12/11/2004 20:00

Coddy skirts are so much easier for running aorund in you just have to get used to them. Also much easier to buy than trousers.
