Commenting on a planning permission application

My adjoining neighbour has put in a planning application for a rear single storey extension. It goes beyond the 3m existing extension by 2m. So 5m from the original rear wall.

I’m really not happy about how imposing it will be on my garden. I will talk to neighbour before I do anything, please note.

I may comment on the application in writing and make my objections but haven’t decided yet.

Does anyone have any experience in how often extensions beyond 3m ( permitted development right for a semi) get approved with and without neighbour objections.

You could phone planning and ask. I think it varies. My ndn's was refused without our input as none of the other houses in the road are built back that far.

I was just looking at the latest guidance on permitted development today, let me see if I can find the link for you. The diagrams are pretty helpful.

Sorry! Don't think that link works!

Try this: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/permitted-development-rights-for-householders-technical-guidance
