My outdoor bin suddenly full of wasps and it’s due to be emptied tomorrow but I’m too scared to get close

So my bin gets emptied every 2 weeks, so it’s been 2 weeks since it was last emptied, I went to pull it out tonight so that I don’t forget in the morning and there was about 15 wasps coming at me as soon as I got up close and personal! I stepped back and watched and the lid is slightly open as it’s a little over full and the wasps are flying in and out! I’m freaked out! It’s due to be emptied tomorrow what do I do? Could wasps make a nest within a 2 week
Period? Or might they just be going in and out for another reason like something in there that they like?

I would wait till night time when they're sleepy, wheel the bin out then open the lid and run - exposed to the elements they might have flown off by morning (and at least they won't surprise the bin men)

A solitary wasp had a good start a making a nest in half a day in my shed. It chased me away when I went near. I had to spray it with this

Presumably you’ve been putting stuff in the bin over the last 2 weeks so maybe they are just after something in there.
Could you get a can of raid then aim a spray through the gap & race away? Then after half an hr flip the lid open with a broom stick & have the spray ready to give a blast if any are left.

I have been filling the bin however we have more than one bin for general rubbish so this bin was filled in about 2 days so it’s been sitting full of rubbish for around 12 solid days Iv also noticed a lot of fly’s around all of the bins the last week
