How clever is DD's great grandad!?!

We went to visit DD's (2.5yo) great grandad yesterday and he had a suprise for her. He had made her a wooden doll's house!

We bought her an early Christmas pressie today of lots of wooden furniture for it. She has spent all day playing with this and adores it.

Grandad Great is so fab We'll be getting him an extra special present to say thank you very soon.

I know. Bless her, she was so overwhelmed. She just kept giving her Grandad great a kiss and hug, to say thank you. She adores it.

It reminds me of when my grandad made me my first doll's house.

Hula, it's gorgeous - fab great-grandad! He must have been so thrilled with her delight. The furniture etc is lovely too. Awwwww.

Furniture is all from ELC. It's on buy 2, get one free. So a good deal at the moment Grandad Great hasn't seen it with the furniture yet, but he will love it

The furniture was a bit too fiddly for him to make. Bless him, he is in his 80s and only "allowed" to spend an hour in his garage working a day.

I know she is It was the first thing we went to find on waking this morning. She is still busy playing. I can hear her chattering away, making all the people talk to each other

It is lovely - dd would love it as well. Unfortunately noone in our family is that handy.

my dd1 has the exact same dolls house! her grandad made it for her a few years ago. both of my girls love their dolls houses (we have one here which is andmade by another elderly gent, its a srong frame, with all the details in matchsticks, every inch is covered.)

Grandad said he has seen a paper plan for one, that he'd used for his template. Must be same one He is making another one now for his other great gradnd daughter.

yeah its a basic plan they use. then they decorate it how they wish. still takes hours and patience tho! dd1 house is very bright. her grandad got loads of slot together furniture (kleenezee i think), which i feel is too delacite for the dd's. the furniture they have in their house here is the ELC stuff, tho had to remove a few pieces from some sets as too small and dd2 tried to eat it.

dolls houses are fab, evn better when made with love.

I agree Misdee.

Gradnad didn't actually have any wood plan templates. He just borrowed a paper based plan from someone he knows. He then but it all out, etc. himself. The one is is mking now is for a a one year old to grow into. He is making that one out of even chunkier wood, to make it more solid. DD couldn't wait that long after seeing his first attempt

We have the ELC stuff. The bathroom currently doesn't have a home. And the adult's wardrobe doesn't fit under the roof upstairs. But DD is happy enough to have the bathroom outside
