dark blue emulsion with glitter in it??

I want to paint one wall in ds's bedroom a v dark blue, and make it glittery, or textured, or metallic, something to make it shimmer somehow.

How can I do this? Is it incredibly stupid to think of painting it in dark blue emulsion and chucking a few pots of glitter at it before it dries?

I'd think very carefully about painting owt dark blue.
It is going to be well oppressive.
(Esp. in context of Scotland on a winter's day. yOU hAVE bEEN wARNED.)

Something like this stuff maybe?

Madoldcatlady · 25/11/2007 21:57

Benneton(sp?) used to do a lovely range of glitter paints not sure if they still do.

stripeymama · 25/11/2007 21:58

Though I'd probably just chuck glitter at it, being the undisputed Queen of the Bodge Job.

Prunie · 25/11/2007 21:58

Oh but moondog it is going to be space
He's only 4
It'll be fine

ok B+Q
I did look but my local one is shite and a bit scary tbh (v Scottish men buying big tools)

well i am planning on doing ds3 room dark blue and we are very grim up north
he wants stars and i am debating a solar system one wall/chimney breast {urchin}
as long as bright primary colours accent it - should be fine

stripeymama · 25/11/2007 22:02

I'm guessing you mean the link rather than the wanging-glitter-and-hoping-for-the-best suggestion

Its lovely isn't it! I have been inspired now to do DD's room all sparkly (and maybe even mine if there is any spare). Tis dangerous going on MN if you ask me, all this inspiration!

Prunie · 25/11/2007 22:03

Nice, mmj
Great minds
I am really chuffed!
Would it be overkill to do the metallic paint and the stars?

bugger. didn't link to the bit i wanted and I can't do it!

HappyMummyOfOne · 25/11/2007 23:17

DS has a dark blue space theme, never thought of the glitter paint - fab idea.

He has a rocket, moon and stars all made from acrylic mirror on one wall. When the light catches the stars they twinkle.

Mmm wonder if I can convince DH to go for a glitter in our room
