ive just found out some people where i live think im a liar, i want to prove them wrong i havent done or said anything to anyone as i keep myself to myself, this is a very serious matter as ive heard through a friend that ive suppose to have been informing the social of people claiming benifits and working when ive never in my life grassed on anyone and wouldnt do a think like that.i need some advice, i think i know the people that have started the lie off but not sure if asking them is the way im going to find out the whole truth. do you think i could involve or inform the police or any other form help.i belive this is slander as the police look at it

Sorry I dont know what advice to give . I suppose you must be feeling really rubbish now but unless you were been threatened I dont think the police would do much
I would confront the people though maybe it is all a rumour that has got out of hand ?
Anyway I hope you sort it out soon.

I doubt the police will do anything. I'm in a similar situation with various people saying I don't have multiple sclerosis but am faking it. Its slander but there's nothing I can do except ignore it.

If you are 100% sure of who is telling lies about you, and those lies are potentially damaging to you, you can get a solicitors letter to them, warning them to stop or legal action will be considered.

Bit serious, so only to be considered if it is a really big problem for you.
