Most Boring Thread Subject Ever - fridge overflows!

Sorry to be so deadly dull, but this is really aggravating me. My fridge freezer has a gutter and overflow hole at the back and somehow it's got blocked so I have a constant trickle of water going under the salad trays, under the door and onto the floor in a puddle. The hole is too small to push anything in to clear it - how do I clear it?? Aaaargh!

A cocktail stick?

No, Yorkiegirl, it's about 4 years old. The problem only started about 6 months ago. I think a bit of food matter (yuck) has gone in and rotted (double yuck). But the other thing is - where does the water go? It's an overflow that drains water but there's nowhere you can empty it. Will try the cable tie (if I can find one) - needs to be something fairly rigid and quite long...

Ooooh, how exiting We've got those too, in both fridges, and have a j cloth permanantly anchored in the front of the salad crisper. My sister says you need one of those steamer things to unblock it, but I'm reluctant to spend that much money on something that looks pretty useless apart from this purpose.

We too have a trickle of water coming out of the fridge, I assumed it was cos it was old and wanting to be replace, but am now going to investigate the back, armed with a cocktail stick

I have one of these too, I usually end up using a few cotton buds to clear out the black snot stuff

pipe cleaner works well IMHO also you can bend it to go round corners

Have you got the manual for it? It might give you some advice in there..... have to say though that I have EXACTLY the same problem, and just assumed it was because the fridge was getting on a bit . We've got a little stick-type thing in the hole but obviously whatever is blocking it is wedged in...

I've got a plastic thing permanently sticking out of mine to stop it getting blocked.

YG- which steamer thingy have you got- there are loads of different ones advertised...
