Has anyone noticed the bulling going on here?

It seems there are some people who don't have anything better to do. There is some nasty bullying on this site, by a certain group of individuals. They stick together like glue and make idiotic and rude remarks. I am disgusted by these people and quite frankly, have had enough.

They must have so very big issures if they can insult people like they do and not realise that its hurtful and very respectful to others.

OP posts:

The thing is, if you don't name name or get specific HOW TF can anyone even agree to agree or anything? We don't even know wtf the OP is talking about!

But hey.

Gosh, can't believe this thread!

This is where it started

Storm in a teacup. Nothing very juicy I'm afraid.

Desiderata if you knew our surname you would pysl at what ds gets called

LittleBella · 23/11/2007 22:49

I think that quite often when people complain that they are being bullied on mumsnet, what they actually mean is that they are losing the argument.

I don't know if that's the OP's case, but I hate this "some people are bullies"... type crap. Names and dates please. On the whole people don't get bullied. They might feel like they're being shouted down, but mostly if people are shouted down it's because they are putting forward an argument they can't defend with any real coherence or evidence and which other people are disputing with real coherence and evidence. That's why mumsnet is almost unique on the internet - if you talk crap, you get challenged on it not aggressively but authoritatively. Sometimes, you can't be arsed to rise to the challenge, other times you gracefully acknowledge that you were talking crap, other times, you pretend that you're not talking crap and have a jolly half hour seeing how far you can carry it without tiring. (I think I've probably done all three.) If you insist on continuing to talk crap without putting evidence forward, you will probably get a lot of posts arguing against you and you can call that bullying if you like but I'd call it quality control.

michellexmx · 23/11/2007 22:51

Get a backbone!!!!
How can you be bullied online at our age(s)? It always confuses me... you can always choose to ignore, stick up for yourself or if all else fails... log off.

zippitippitoes · 23/11/2007 23:00

well maybe it's the time of night but pmsl at the bizarreness of that thread....it's hardly a regular mn interchange lol

WideWebWitch · 23/11/2007 23:02

lol at Quality Control LittleBella, I'm going to say that on 'bullying' threads now "ahem, sorry, it's not bullying, wtf are you on about, it's Qualiy Control" ha ha

Twinklemegan · 23/11/2007 23:07

I wouldn't say I have ever witnessed actual bullying, and certainly never bullying by a group. And when you spend time on here you realise that many of the regulars who can come across very abruptly actually have hearts of gold.

However there are undoubtably some Mumsnetters who can be very insensitive at times and who forget that an apparently well-worn issue can be very fresh and raw to a new poster. I do think we all need to remember that we are talking - well typing - to real people with real feelings (barring the hairy handed truckers of course).

But newcomers do also need to grow a thick skin and certainly not get hung up over threads like the example posted

Lecture over.

talktothebees · 23/11/2007 23:34

I agree with what someone else has said on here (too lazy to scroll back - sorry) that the bluntness of the responses you get on here can be a bit shocking but so far I've appreciated that. Also I have to respect that when you've been posting on here for a long time you've probably seen any questions I might ask a million times and hearing the same old stuff can be a bit wearing.

There are comments between some posters that I don't understand but I don't think they're actively trying to exclude newbies and make them feel uncomfortable. If they are then I don't have time to fret about it? I'm a new mum with a PFB and I have to spend all my time worrying about every pimple on her forehead and poring over milestone charts FGS!!

So far you have mostly been lovely, sometimes daft, occassionally a bit short with me and very often funny.

I know you're all talking behind my back though [paranoid emoticon]

talktothebees · 23/11/2007 23:36

Pedants, sorry for the inappropriate use of a question mark there. Please don't hurt me......

VeniVidiVickiQV · 23/11/2007 23:54

I'm bulled ALL the time on here.

It's truly shocking.

EmsMum · 23/11/2007 23:57

Gerrof her you mad cow.

BoysAreLikeReindeer · 23/11/2007 23:58

What do you all think about bit of piss-taking ?

zippitippitoes · 23/11/2007 23:58

i've noiticed that twiglett gets bulled pretty regulsr

EmsMum · 24/11/2007 00:00

piss-taking? no no. When theres bulling going on thats not the fluid the AI man needs to take.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 24/11/2007 00:01

Get out of my ears Harpsi

S1ur · 24/11/2007 00:01

Got to add, (at risk of inciting offensive posting following me wherever I go) one reason to post opinion on mn is because of forthright, diverse and sometimes completely at odds with everything sensible answers. My friends are, by natural selection, not completely dissimilar, so where else would I find such diverse opinons outside a pub brawl?

michellexmx · 24/11/2007 00:02

piss takings fine...funny in fact.

Twinklemegan · 24/11/2007 00:02

Now, you see, just because no one has yet posted to tell me what an amazingly insightful point I just made doesn't mean I'm being bullied. It's just that sensible people like me tend to get overlooked in favour of the likes of VVVQV and HarpsichordCarrier (tarts).

Oops - did I say that out loud? Sorreeeee
