dd has asked for some UGG boots for xmas. I found some online froma company called Snug Australia. So i ordered. They have arrived not boxed which has now made me question whether they are inf act the real thing. Anyway I now think they arent. Are "uggs" the name for the style of boot or a brand name? Naturally I feel that my dd would prefer the real thing as she has actually requested them

This is a massive thread about Uggs and how to tell if they are genuine or not by the labels etc.. Might take a while to read through but hopefully you'll be able to tell if yours are genuine or not. HTH

ive been on another site just now and it appears these are not genuine. am really pissed now.

they have the label on the back. I bought some similar called Emu also from Australia, only as Uggs were so popular in the states about four years ago I couldn't get my hands on a pair.

Jampot · 18/11/2007 20:50

mine have a label on the back quite similar saying UGG but also with Snug Australia on them

is there an official UGG website so maybe you can check their authenticity? How old is your daughter? Would she know the difference? Though I would be pissed off if I had paid a lot of money for something thats not genuine.

yogimum · 18/11/2007 21:04

I had a look on the website snug australia, they look genuine to me.

mrsboden · 11/12/2007 20:26

If your still trying to genuine uggs in time for christmas go to www.paradehome.co.uk they have just had a load delivered! (and can post nationwide)

mrsboden · 11/12/2007 20:27

Genuine Uggs are about £140 for short (or more) and £170 for tall - anything cheaper really isn't the real thing - beware the real ones are Ugg Australia, made in Australia.

ScarletA · 11/12/2007 20:51

'Authentic' uggs have a bigger G in the middle than at the end, it appears. But Australian/NZers call sheepskin boots uggs so really it's just a question of branding. The ones you bought may not be the 'genuine' thing but they will be warm and wonderful, will your daughter really mind? Maybe not even tell her....?

You don't have to spend £140-£170 though - I bought my long ones last year for £98 including shipping - from a site advertising on ebay. They are 'genuine' (didn't realise until I read the thread the bubblerock stuck up) but I wouldn't really have minded if they weren't. In fact, some of the styles on this website (not claiming to be Ugg) are a lot nicer and when these ones die, I will buy from them. www.kiwi-sheepskins.com

agree with Scarlet, I got mine for £90 cause I ordered from abroad and they are genuine Deckers Ugg australia boots, it depends on what people want, australian ugg style boots or deckers ugg australia, same style but slight difference with labels.

scorpio1 · 12/12/2007 13:36

Don't understand why there are so many threads about Uggs. Calm down you lot - they're only bits of sheepskin
Anyway they stink after a few months.

LouIsAHappyLittleVegemite · 19/03/2009 13:28

Uggs - generic name for sheepskin boots worn in public only by bogans in Australia and NZ and now by everyone.
Dockers (Huge US company) tried to copyright the name and screw over lots of little companies. Little companies went to court and won. Dockers now has the rights to the name 'uGg Australia' and thats all. Nothing special about their boots. Now its just a fancy name for slippers. Like Levis for jeans.
