Do you mean rawlplug?

If so you are probably using the wrong size drill bit.

SoupDragon · 18/11/2007 13:04

And make sure you've drilled in far enough to take the length of the plug.

SpacePuppy · 18/11/2007 13:04

you do know that you have to drill the hole in the wall first?

rivi · 18/11/2007 13:29

SpacePuppy that is no laughing matter with me and my diy skills!

NoNameToday yes sorry rawlplug

I have drilled in as far as the length of the plug wondered if I had to drill a bit longer?

After trying to insert the rawlplug I then tried to tap it in gently but they just go flat and not in I am being gentle!

A little longer is good, yes [snurk] How far can you get it in before there's a problem? [double snurk]

Soupdragon, have you looked at the recommended drillbit siz for the rawlplug you are using?

It will I think be different than the recommended size for the screw you are using.

Hope that makes sense.

MissLapinToYou · 18/11/2007 13:51

Best way - screw the screw into the rawlplug, then introduce the rawlplug to the hole, and tap it in gently. The screw will help stop it going flat, and because you are hitting the screw head, not the top of the rawlplug, with the hammer, it stops the edges bending in.

Lapin, is there anything at all that you don't excel at?

MissLapinToYou · 18/11/2007 14:00

My grandad was a builder

That's another tip for my DIY projects Lapin. Thank you.
