Had too much vino at friend's house last night and am out again tonight, but still feeling a bit crappy and looking grey round the gills.

Luckily dcs are with ex h so have had a nice soak in the bath but wondered if anyone had any tried and tested fixes for feeling better? Wouldn't mind doing a homemade face mask as well to try and perk myself up, anyone got any recipies,

Thanks.

coca cola, painkillers ,and if you can stomach it a fry up

SantaBeClausImWorthIt · 17/11/2007 14:56

See if you can get an hour or so's kip as well.

Make sure you're properly rehydrated, so drink lots of water, but also make sure you have replenished your sugar/salt - so second lou33 re Coke - and not Diet Coke.

And make sure you've eaten something before you start again tonight.

Thanks Lou, haven't got any coke, done the painkillers but can't stomach a fry up

Could you manage a sandwich? Get something starchy into you.

You may find that once you start eating it will make you feel better.

Have manged to eat, not particularly healthy stuff but am starting to feel a bit more human again.

Thanks for the replies.

once i dragged myself out of bed today i went and had a pint of coke and a cheese and bacon burger with fries and garlic mayo, then a hot chocolate

i felt a lot better, although wasnt really hungover too badly as i was asleep by 2am, but i need a nap now

I absolutely swear by Peptobismol. A nice pharmacist recomended it to me once, when I'd had a heavy night of too much wine and a curry and was about to get on a train to London to celebrate a friend's engagement. I was feeling like I'd either pass out or vomit at any moment, but a hour and a half later I was toasting the happy event with champagne and felt as right as rain. Tastes revolting, though, and feels like drinking blancmage, which isn't nice when you feel like vomiting anyway!

Carmenere · 17/11/2007 15:38

Bloody Mary. But any more than one (or two) and you are just drunk again.

lou33 · 17/11/2007 15:39

oh god pepto bismol, i cant bear it

nor tomato juice, can i just have the neat vodka?

saltireflyingatHampden · 17/11/2007 15:40

Barrs Irn Bru. Not the diet stuff either

Whizzz · 17/11/2007 16:06

Full fat coca cola - always works for me !
It's the sugar content, caffeine and fizz - just what you need to settle your tum & get you back to normal

OliviaMumsnet · 17/11/2007 16:08

Full fat coke and a mars bar or a bacon butty and hot coffee always works.

Also cold compress on the eyes for a bit will help you feel a bit more awake

Home made face mask? A quick google gave me this:
A homemade face mask of crushed ripe bananas can help keep wrinkles at bay.
A beaten egg white with ½ teaspoon lime juice tightens skin and closes pores.
Grated cucumber is an excellent coolant and relaxant for tired skin.
A face mask of tomatoes helps an oily skin.
Homemade face mask with cooked and pureed carrots blended with yogurt and lemon juice can perk up dull skin.
A face pack of mint helps those suffering from acne.
Oatmeal face masks are known to remove dead cells and soften the skin.
Hope you feel better soon.

Will have to remember the coke recommendation!

Agree that a fry up is good or a breakfast burger thingy.

This thread is making me hungry actually.

WideWebWitch · 17/11/2007 16:19

Hello

sleep
Coke
bacon sandwich
water
more water
more sleep
sex (it's the painkillers in the endorphins, it does work)

dooley1 · 17/11/2007 16:21

Anadin Extra and as much water as you can handle
Then carbs and more carbs with a bit of grease thrown in, something like a hot bacon baguette and chips

stripeytiger · 17/11/2007 16:43

Thanks everyone.

www - like the sound of your last recommendation. Hopefully that'll happen later on

you're welcome stripeytiger. We both woke up with hangovers this morning and I followed all my recommendations (except Coke) and feel marvelous now!
