Has your year turned out how you expected at the beginning of the year?

Thought I'd post this as I've been thinking about it the last few days.
At the end of last year we decided that we would try for another baby, At the end of January we found I was pg. In March I lost the baby
We bought a house and are very settled now.
I'm also now nearly 4 stone lighter than I was at the start of the year.
I really didn't expect the year to turn out as it has and here's to a happier 2008

It's actually been a pretty settled year for us after a few traumatic ones, so I can't complain.

My years are all the same.

zippitippitoes · 16/11/2007 08:58

no mostly it's been crap

thought the house i'm building would have been finished in new year but it still isn't

thought i would have the a fantastic big 0 birthday and it was rubbish

thought i would meet my broither and after a single letter he has disappeared again

thought dp and i would be better than ever and he dumped nme after 8 years

thought I would get a job and have some relief from money anxieties and i haven't

thought ds was doing ok at uni and he failed the firat year and is now do nothing at all

and a few other things to depress me

the only good thing is i too lost 4 stone and i haven't completely gone under

I'm sorry about the loss of your baby. Huge congrats on the weight loss.

I'm kind of the complete opposite to you I lost nearly 4 stone up until March then I found out I was (unexpectedly) pregnant with my third child. I have put on a couple of stone and am due in 7 weeks so no not how I imagined things would be! Although I couldn't be happier. We are getting the house sorted instead of moving to a completely different town which was the original plan last year! It's funny how things turn out..

I also want to say that I had a m/c after I had dd and have gone on to have 2 successful pregnancies since then. All the best for 2008.

It's been quite good actually .I did think that we would have decorated the house by now though and we would have had a diagnosis for our dd who has sn.
But apart from that it's been a quiet one.

My year started off a total nightmare, but has improved beyond belief.

I lost all of my hearing; unknown cause.

I had to give up my job in filmmaking.

I was totally deaf for 8 months, which was hellish.

Then I got a cochlear implant in one ear and have been learning to hear again slowly.

We were invited to stay at a friend's house in Sardinia in June not long after my implant.

I got word that my permanent residency had been accepted for Australia.

We've just been on a 7 week holiday to Oz, which was amazing.

Things have really turned around for us.

I've had a wicked year, best one since 1995. Something's bound to go tits up again soon, but I'm enjoying it whilst it lasts.

Our year has been crap.
Dh was out of work for the first qtr. He is now unhappy in his job and looking for another. It is a long way away and he gets home alot latter than he used to.
My job is changing & I don't feel secure.
My mum is not particularly well and is unable to help me in any way, I have no support network.
I miscarried a month ago.
I weigh 11 stone, having weighed 9, all my life, so feel fat and unattractive.
My sil's house sold, and she made 150,000 on it and paid off her mortgage - I am glad for her, but ....jealous.
The only good thing is that ds is a little sweetie. He is happy. And that I love my dh and feel very loved. Which, when you have had a difficult year, means an awful lot.
Well done to all those who lost weight.
Where are all the good stories, to cheer us up ?
