Betrayed by husband over his inheritance

My husband walked out on me and my children in 2019 after 21 years of marriage.
It has since unfolded that his sister and brother blackmailed him into leaving us
"Leave your wife to face homelessness or we won't give you a penny of our mothers estate "
His sister had been appointed power of attorney over her mother's estate. Over the years she'd been abusing her position of trust, helping herself to thousands of pounds from her mothers savings accounts. When I threatened to expose her criime she put pressure on my husband to leave me.
So he walked out, and left us with nothing but a section 21 notice.
We've been rehoused by a housing association and now my husband wants to get back with me! He wants to move into our housing association property with us, which I think is really cheeky after he left us to face homelessness.

That’s bullshit.the will legally has to be executed the way it is written. The executor cannot stop funds been given as the will is written.

If this is true he chose to leave you and he’s trying to avoid letting you know the truth of it by making it someone else’s fault.

He chose to leave you, he could have fought her via solicitors and stood up to her. Instead he chose to leave you for money. In fact not just money, he chose to leave you and your dc homeless!

He's a greedy, selfish, spineless twat of the highest order.

This is not an issue with your sil, this is an issue with your DH and your be an idiot to even entertain getting back with him

Let him use his inheritance to buy himself or rent a house

And who told you this? Not your DH I hope as it is a fantastical story.
Executors can’t withhold inheritance. I think he left for some other reason and has made up this story to paint himself as a victim.

I don't know.
I have no access to his accounts. Nothing in joint names.
I believe in the region of £80000.
He says he has no money left , all gone on debts.

His sister dealt with the mother's estate, and he's not seen a breakdown of the will.
He is a very weak man and his brother and sister have a lot of influence over him.

Perhaps the story is more, that your husband has an addiction and told his sister that it was your addicition and she supported him in leaving you and recently found out the truth.

Surely the will had to go through probate if his share was £80k? Why can’t he request a copy of the will from the court?

None of this adds up.
Debts? That you had no idea about? Why didnt you have access to the accounts? How did you know about SIL financially abusing MIL?

He had a gambling addiction.
His sister had been passing cheques over to my husband for years from her mums bank account. I found the receipts. My husband told me that they were from his sister to avoid the tax man. He was adament the money had to go to offset the mortgage, and he said his sister had told him not to spend it on obvious purchases.
When I said it was wrong and I would tell the police he told me they'd all lose their jobs if the truth came out.
He never shared financial information with me, no joint accounts nothing.

He only wants to move in with me si he can save a bit of money, as he's paying two lots of rent on his place and mine.
Of course I will not be agreeing to him moving in here, as that would make a total mockery of the whole housing system.
Interesting comment about the addiction and sil supporting my oh and finding out the truth 🤔
I certainly don't have an addiction.

Gift giving is legal and I believe tax free up to a certain amount. Im not sure about how it ties in with POA.

Its really worrying that you are married and have no idea about the finances. Do you have access to online banking?

Yes I have access to online banking for my own bank account.
SIL was writing numerous cheques, from £6000 to £12000 each time
