Have a bottle here with a stupid rubber cork and the stupid corkscrew just keeps sliding back out of the stupid bottle. It's not that I'm desperate for a drink or anything, but please advise...... in the next 10 minutes?????

How stupid! Sorry no other advice, mine comes with a handy tap on the side of the box!

Macdog · 08/11/2007 17:58

Try knocking the cork back into the bottle using the handle of a wooden spoon and a hammer.
Means you'll have to drink the lot cos you can't re-seal it...........

Tigerschick · 08/11/2007 17:59

Do you have another corkscrew? We had one like this that did that but our ones like this seem to work fine.

SuzieSweep · 08/11/2007 18:31

I hate those plastic type corks- very annoying. Hope you got your wine open in the end .

SuzieSweep · 08/11/2007 18:31

rubber cork not plastic .

Thanks all!!! And am hugely impressed by Tigerschick rustling up some nice pictures! You're right about the relative merits of the two styles, but the effective one bust - prob through over-use.
Attacked the rim of the cork with a knife in the end, and then wiggled it out. Am 3 glasses along, thank you very much!
