Glasses/vision

So I went for an eye test at SS as I was getting some headaches & wanted to rule out if my prescription had changed. I wear varifocals and it was apparent that there was a slight change, just my reading (near vision) could do with sharpening up so overall not a huge difference.

The price of some new glasses from SS were astronomical. Considering the fact there was a only a small change to my vision, I decided to leave it & get some new glasses from elsewhere.

So I went to Asda. I picked out a couple of pairs & they took my new prescription, marked up the glasses as they do with varifocals. I picked them up yesterday. My distance vision is fine, it’s my near vision that I’m struggling a bit with. If I put my old glasses on, there’s not a great deal of difference, yes I suppose they appear clearer but is that because I’m use to them?

I can see text and it’s not necessarily blurry, just not clear it’s hard to describe, it’s almost like 3D! Is it because my prescription has changed or because the Asda are just standard varifocals as the ones from SS have levels & I usually go for the elite ones.

Also, I’ve noticed that if I look into the camera with my phone with my new glasses on I can’t make out my face details, take my glasses off & I can. With my old glasses I can.

I’ve paid £120 for 2 pairs at Asda which in comparison to SS isn’t a lot but is still a lot of money.

I can only go back & say my near vision doesn’t seem right but as my eye test was done at SS I don’t think there is much else they can do. Also just a minor thing but these glasses steam up with my mask on way more than my old ones! The only other thing is SS have screwed up my eye test in the past, so I’m hoping it’s not my prescription that’s at fault! I could have a fresh eye test done at Asda but that means paying out again! Advice?
