Im having a halloween party on Sunday for DDs 5th Birthday Party.

There will be 25 children mostly 4-5 years.

I have decided not to have an entertainer or anything to save money and Im a bit stuck for activities to do with them.

The food is all sorted, as are party bags just stuck for games to play!! Im frightened they are just going to run wild!

I have hired the village hall for 2 hours.

why dont you get or make a pinata - keeps them entertained for ages - and the game where they have o throw a double six, dress up and eat a choc bar with a knife and fork is always good! have fun xxx

Get a big box, decorate it if you like, put a whole in the top (big enough to get their hands/arm in), then put things in it, one at a time, on plates and let them guess whats it is, ie. warm noodles, ketchup, raisins, anything you like. You are very brave having 25 of the little monsters!

See if you can find a shop selling a Halloween music tape. Sainsbury's sell Pinatas nowadays, btw. Got a spider-doorway curtain in Woolworths. We are having a 5th birthday/fancy dress party on Sunday for DS's birthday (actually a few days later). You can cut out bat shapes in black paper, color with a silver pen & decorate the hall with them.

Is it dark enough if you turn out the lights? All sorts of games you could play then.

Also, how about pass the pumpkin, (a plastic one is best), fill it with tissue paper or the like and sweets, when the music stops they delve in and pull out a sweet, last one left with the pumpkin gets a prize. I think it will be quite hard to orgainse 25 for games. What about a spooky dancing competition. Could you get one of family/friends to volounteer to be a face painter doing a Halloween theme. Take some balls, hoops or any rides ons you can borrow. Would love to know what you play in the end....it may be useful for me for parties to come.

So far the ideas are.....

Wrap the mummy - put kids in pairs with a toilet roll and take in turns to wrap each other up.

Pass the parcel.

Donuts hanging from a string, hands behind the back and try and eat them

Im going to do a box full of cooked spaghetti and get them to delve in and pull out packs of sweets/little prizes

I have a volunteer friend who is going to be face painter

I have bought a huge pack of big cookies from costco and some writing icing and Im going to set up a station for them to decorate them.

Pin the nose on the pumpkin

Corners - ie each corner has a name/picture (ghosts, witches, aliens and monsters) kids run around and pick a corner when the whistle is blown then a corner is shouted out and that one is out etc etc

What about the traditional bobbing for apples?

LIZS · 29/10/2004 18:36

ds had a party this afternoon and successes were Pumpkin Ring toss - hoops thrown over different size/shape pumpkins - and fishing for spooky things to put in a potion (bat, black cat, frog etc). Perhaps you could have some table tennis balls (eyeballs!) to be sucked out of a bucket with a straw, how many in 30 seconds. Pass the balloon along a line without using hands (draw face on orange or white). Make a Ghost or Witch / Vampire lollipop - template on dltk website
