hi all posting this here and health as I need a reply quickly and don't know where best to put it. I want to go swimming and take 1yr old with me, not up to date with jabs (long story) does anyone know if this is ok?

I read in a leaflet about immunisations that it is a myth that you have to wait until after injections, and it is fine to take a baby swimming at anytime.

I remember asking with my first baby when I could take her swimming and the health visitor said 'after all her jabs'. However, she also explained that the jabs themselves weren't actually important but that advice coincided with the age when they could probably handle the cold - ie. about 4 months. So they don't need to have had the jabs to swim.

I don't think they're any more likely to catch polio or something from the swimming pool as anywhere else (and after all the water itself is chlorinated).

I've never heard that you can't take child who isn't up to date with their immunisations swimming.

My 5 year old recetly had to wait a couple of months for her 5 year old shots, because they didn't have any. Should I not have let her go swimming in the meantime?
