another expensive watch thread.....

Last week I lost my perfectly serviceable Seiko watch that I've had for 5 years. I looked everywhere for it, and came to the conclusion that I must have left it in the changing room at the swimming pool. I phoned the pool, and had no luck, so went out looking for another one yesterday.

Found the ideal watch, BUT it was very expensive. Far more than I have ever spent on a watch before, but I phoned dh, and as it's our 10th wedding anniversary at the end of this month, he said I could have it as a joint anniversary and Christmas present. Went home very pleased with myself.

Today I found the old watch in the pocket of my apron. I made mince pies after coming in from swimming last week. Me baking is such a rarity that I forgot I'd done it, and failed to look in my apron.....

Well that's good then. You've got your old watch back and haven't wasted an anniversary or Christmas present

Have you told him??!

tissy · 04/11/2007 19:00

yes, told him, and luckily he laughed!

He didn't have a clue what to get me for the Anniversary (I was hankering after a trip on the Orient Express, but childcare was a problem, quite apart from the cost!).

If I'd left it to him to choose a present it would have been something hideous, so in a way I'm glad, but I would never have expected him to spend that much money on me!
