Kits, stick with Amelia, it is lovely.
Pecka, Amy or Mimi????

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/10/2007 12:28

Pecka - shortenings of Amelia are normally Millie, or just Mil (which was our problem one). Possibly also Amy, although probably only if you or she instigated this.

Imogen gets shortened to Immy, which we were less keen on, hence us not choosing it in the end.

Matilda can be Tilly or Matty or Tilda. It's a good name IMHO.

Evie also nice, though does seem to be getting more popular than it was.

I'm personally not keen on Minnie or Honey, but it should ultimately be your (and dh's) choice .

BethBoo · 30/10/2007 12:30

How about Eloise?

princessPUMPKINmel · 30/10/2007 12:31

Amelie. Not sure if its been said already.

Love Kitty too.

princessPUMPKINmel · 30/10/2007 12:32

I wanted Aurelia after the film Love Actually. Its my fave part of the film. So romantic. Always makes me cry.

dingleberry2 · 30/10/2007 12:32

Esme

dingleberry2 · 30/10/2007 12:34

I know an Amelia called Meme. Pronounced Mimi. she even writes this on her schoolwork.

We altered our dd's name because there were supposedly so many Annas. There has never been another one in any of her extremely large nurseries or schoool, and she is 7.

ELF1981 · 30/10/2007 12:36

Amelia can get shortened to Mia.

I love Aurora but DH wasn't keen, which is why we ended up with Evelyn.

dingleberry2 · 30/10/2007 12:36

I think you should have it, it was on our list and now I regret we can never use it, except maybe for a pet!

Have an Amelia for me!

puddle · 30/10/2007 12:38

Cecily
Cecilia

BroccoliSpears · 30/10/2007 13:25

I knew an Italian girl called Aurora. She was mean and used to ask me to say her name so that all her glamerous Italian friends could laugh at my rubbish English pronunciation.

brimfull · 30/10/2007 13:31

cicely

brimfull · 30/10/2007 13:32

don't think that's a name

brimfull · 30/10/2007 13:32

cecily

SqueeelyMeeely2 · 30/10/2007 13:33

Arabella Kitty

brimfull · 30/10/2007 13:34

mary

ChasingSquirrels · 30/10/2007 13:34

my friends dd is called Annelie. But she is part Swedish, so it has relevance for her. Not a name I had heard before but very pretty.

EllHell · 30/10/2007 13:40

LOL @ pond weed. Dd1's head teacher is called Elodia.

Aurelia would be pronounced Ow-ray-lee-ah (approx) in Italian, but I'd say 'Aw-ree-lee-ah' for an English person, unless I knew they pronounced it differently.

Emilia is nice, and very much like Amelia but different ... and still a 'real name' (iykwim). I also like Cordelia (unless you already have dds called Goneril and Regan ); or what about Fulvia?

PrincessAfterLife · 30/10/2007 13:44

Emina (pronounced Emeena)

EllHell · 30/10/2007 13:45

Squirrels, my dds' lovely cm is called Anneli (also half Swedish). I really like the name, though she does spend a lot of time explaining to people that it's not Anna/Annaliese/Annabel/Amelie/Amelia/Aspidistra/whatever.

[OK, not really Aspidistra ]

MaryAnnSingletomb · 30/10/2007 13:45

Fulvia - makes me think of English o-level
