I love this name and have had it as my 'girls' name for years but its getting a bit more popular and although I do still love it loads I don't think I can have it.

So anything similar? Middle name is to ke Kitty

Piffle, I love that name. A very kind stewardess was called that on our plane back from South Africa when I was pg with dd1. I really wanted to have it, but dh wasn't as keen. DD1 called Alexa instead.

toastedteacake · 30/10/2007 11:58

What about Lorelei?

MrsArchieTheScaryInventor · 30/10/2007 11:59

Imelda

MrsArchieTheScaryInventor · 30/10/2007 12:01

I misread toastedteacake's suggestion of Lorelei as L'oriel and I thought how bizarre to name your daughter after a brand of hair colourant!

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/10/2007 12:07

Well Amelia was our first choice for a girl, but shortenings didn't work with our surname, and her initials would have been unfortunate.

We went for Philippa in the end (known as Pippa), but also considered Georgina and Imogen (also quite popular though).

Or if you like the idea of shortening to Millie, then go for Milicent.

tigerschick · 30/10/2007 12:11

Erm, kitsandbits is the OP and iloverosycheeks is the one who said she's not pg ... kitsandbits hasn't confirmed either way, I think.

I know what you mean about not wanting a really popular name. DH has always liked Oliver for a boy (I'm not pg again yet) but it is becoming more popular so he is going off it.

There have been loads of lovely suggestions, if you really want to change your choice then I'm sure you can find one here.

toastedteacake · 30/10/2007 12:12

Astrid is lovely, it's Scandinavian and apparently means 'divinely beautiful'.

BroccoliSpears · 30/10/2007 12:14

Amélie
Eloise

Tinker · 30/10/2007 12:16

Oh, Astrid is gorgeous. I'd almost consider having anotehr child just so she could be called Astrid

PeckaRolloverAgain · 30/10/2007 12:18

What are the shortenings of Amelia?

I am pregnant with a girl and DH and DD both love Amelia but Im not quite sure.

I like Amelie but doesnt come across as well with a Geordie accent.

Other contenders are

Eva/Evie
Minnie
Matilda
Imogen
Honey
