such as stereotypes etc.

Norwegians love football a lot they always come to my work in football gear and attend all the matches.

Yy to people thinking scandanavia is a utopia. Me and dp watched a documentary the other night about hygge and basically it said theres so much pressure there to be perfect suicides are quiet high especially denmark. There were people saying that the work life balance is good but theres too much pressure in society to have hobbies and socialise with friends all the time that actually they dont get much down time at all.

Why do ships have barcodes?

To scandanavian

HighHeelBoots · 24/01/2021 21:21

I used to work for a Danish company and thought they were all very sensible. Much better tax system and public services. They all smoked but didn't seem to die of it at the rate we doGrin
None were overweight
Swedes seem similar but not quite as sensible and more sexy. Fewer smokers. Still not overweight

alienspiderbee · 24/01/2021 21:25

Much better tax system and public services.

The funny thing is, despite their high taxes they still pay a lot more for some things. My Danish inlaws are amazed at how cheap dentistry is in the UK, the same for prescription charges.

HighHeelBoots · 24/01/2021 21:27

My opinion of the Danes as sensible was rattled when I saw the kids tv programme with the man with the uncontrollable penisHmm

Jaxhog · 24/01/2021 21:31

Fair-haired (not all blond), fair-minded (come of my best clients are Scandi!), attractive, generous, hard working and very nice. Sense of humour isn't as zany as Brits.

ChevyCamaro · 24/01/2021 21:33

Outdoorsy, kind, reserved, secretive, conformist and a bit socially anxious.

Kendodd · 24/01/2021 21:41

I really admire Scandinavian countries, I wish we could be more like them. My impression of Scandinavians -
Fit and healthy.
All speak perfect English and possibly another language as well as their own.
Well educated.
Liberal.
Love nudity.
Others have said rich but I don't think you're really any richer than us it's just better shared out and you don't tolerate the terrible levels of poverty we have here.

Overall I have a really positive opinion of your countries and your people.

Teakind · 24/01/2021 21:44

Good looking, tall, blonde and put family first.

justanotherneighinparadise · 24/01/2021 21:46

Beautiful tall people with light blonde hair.

AnnaMagnani · 24/01/2021 21:46

You so have not met my relatives

Frenchblue · 24/01/2021 22:37

I’d love to be Scandinavian! I think of them as extremely cool - great design and very stylish.

campista · 24/01/2021 23:17

Loved 'Norsemen'. My humour.

waltzingparrot · 24/01/2021 23:24

Good at designing stuff

lavenderlou · 24/01/2021 23:29

DH has Danish family but I've barely met them so I'm basing this largely on stereotypes and the few Scandinavians I happen to have come across:
Tall
White
Liberal
Outdoorsy
Fond of a drink
Well-educated
Blunt (This last is based almost entirely on a Finnish girl I was at university with who said everything exactly as she saw it).

Fucket · 24/01/2021 23:31

Have lived in Denmark and they do come across as rude. I think this is because they don’t have a word for please, but a million ways to say thank you. Or should i say mange tak, Tusand tak... The ones I worked with didn’t much like immigrants and blamed them for everything and being welfare scum, usually the Turkish immigrants. As a Brit I got reminded that Nelson burnt down Copenhagen during the Napoleonic War quite a bit, so I don’t think Danes likes us too much. I used to counter it was revenge for the Viking invasions. I was there when the cartoons of Mohammed were published and they thought they were hilarious.

Norwegians IMO are closest to British in their humour and love of drinking. Swedes definitely more chilled. Finns are a great laugh but seem to live under constant anxiety of being so close to Russia.

If I could live anywhere I’d pick Norway and and settle in Bergen, although it rains an awful lot but for some reason I’ve always loved it there (maybe not the prices).

WeWantTheFinestWines · 25/01/2021 00:07

Sorry you had a bad experience in Denmark fucket. Sounds like you fell in with the wrong crowd 😉 My network of friends and family are much nicer than that - about immigrants and about the UK. They love British culture - music, films, pubs, the humour but they do think Brexit is nuts 🥜

All Scandinavians I’ve met have been very nice people but I feel they slightly look down on us brits (possibly without even realising they come across like that).

Zoinksalot · 25/01/2021 01:07

Have the highest rate of murderes and serial killers per capita against any over region.

Which is quite interesting. You're more likely to meet a Norwegian killer than a British one!

Longdistance · 25/01/2021 01:10

I have five Swedish friends.
They’re bloody friendly, great humoured and luckily like a drink or ten 🥴

Cattenberg · 25/01/2021 12:43

In my answer, I was also thinking of Icelanders. I see them as Scandinavian, although I’m not sure that’s correct.
