Does anyone know anything about valuing objay dart?

I want to eBay something but have No Idea what sort of value to place on it, or even how to describe it. It is a terracotta statuette of a Native American woman breastfeeding an infant (from MIL - she thinks BF-ing is my hobby, I think).

The reason I'm stressing about it is that she made a big deal of how much it cost when she gave it to us, so I don't want to sell it on for buttons

It has no stamps on it that I can see

I will try to put a picture up for you all to have a laugh at if I can work out the technology, but does anyone have any idea in the meantime?

I was going to suggest searching completed auctions on eBay but it sounds a bit, uh, unique.

Do you know where she bought it from? Might help if you know the artist or even the tribe, and start with a Google search.

Thank you nine.

Pictures on profile now. CHECK them OUT!

Hm - she looks a bit - er - detached!

No idea though, sorry, pw.

policywonk · 29/10/2007 21:50

How much would you pay for it WW

Just out of interest

Doesn't have to be pounds and pence, could be other units (berries, ounces of tummy-button fluff)

policywonk · 29/10/2007 21:59

Because we hate it, and it's been sitting in the attic in bubble-wrap for about two years now. I do feel a bit bad about it, but someone else might get some pleasure out of it...

mintydixcharrington · 29/10/2007 22:06

aren't you impressed that within 30 seconds of looking at your picture I told you where she was from AND found a collection of them on the net?
aren't you?

I KNEW my art history degree would come in useful one day

at stretching the definition of art

mintydixcharrington · 29/10/2007 22:06

WendyWeber · 29/10/2007 22:08

pw's woman is bit artier than your one without the norks though, minty - must be worth more than that?

policywonk · 29/10/2007 22:08

Ooooh the profile labels are back.

Actually, thinking about it, MN's temporary death this evening did coincide with me setting up my profile.

She has a sweet face, pw (apart from total detachment - PND do you think?)

How big is she? I only have a tiny house...minty has tons of room, make her buy it

TheEvilDediderata · 29/10/2007 22:15

But Minty, you can buy 'ats like that on the Portobello Road
