Council bidding

Hiya reposting as I didn't get any replies.
I'm on my local councils locata bidding system at the highest band due to severe overcrowding (me and my baby). Two of the last properties I bidded for had me at rank 1-5 but it says they've been withdrawn two months later. There's another one that I've been shortlisted for and again rank 1-5. Called the council up after waiting a month again and they've said the property isn't available to view yet.

My question is how long does it take usually (I know the pandemic is not helping things either)? I'm worried this property might also be withdrawn like the others. What causes a property to be withdrawn if it was advertised on Locata? Bearing in mind these are council houses not HA

There is quite a backlog this way. Some houses are empty for months after they have been bid on and repairs are taking much longer. Depends if it’s a new build as well. Ours wasn’t ready for 2 months after bidding. Good luck op 🤞🏻

They prioritize repairs to existing tenants over fixing up voids properties so it means voids can be empty for months before they're in a fit state to rent out. I think it would be much better if they didn't get put on the list until they're ready. I expect it's some form of skewing the figures to avoid it looking like there's all these empty homes hanging around.

Is it the property that's been withdrawn when you've seen that or your bid that's been withdrawn? They do that if you don't meet some unseen unknown criteria for the property.

I wish they wouldn't allow people to bid on properties they've zero chance of being given. No point filtering the list so a single person can bid on two bedroom flats, for instance, when the council have no intention of ever giving them more than a one bedroom flat. Again, I expect it's something used to skew the figures, so they can make it look like people have more choices with housing than they actually do.

It could be something as every day as you've had a conversation with someone in housing where you mentioned finding it hard to get the pram upstairs alone and now they're wiping off all your bids on anything other than ground floor properties, or something. In my area they like to call it a "getting to know you" meeting. It would be more accurately described as an assessment.

As I'm reading through your thread I'm just wondering if you know what rank over 20 means on Locata and also roughly how long it takes for a property to be shortlisted?

Cleopatras · 02/02/2022 15:58

Bumping because I'd also like to know the answer to the rank over 20 means on Locata

partnerodd · 20/02/2023 03:09

An very lengthy queue has built up along this route. Several homes remain unoccupied for months after they have been auctioned off, and the time it takes to fix redactle has increased significantly. This also depends on whether or not the structure in question is brand new. It took us two months after placing the bid for ours to have it finished. All the best, op

Rank over 20 means your in the top 20. This is currently my rank. I have no idea he long that takes and if we even have a chance at this point. Has anybody been rank over 20 and gt an offer, pls do let me know. I think you have to be like rank 1-5.

Hiya everyone so I'm abit confused I bidded for a property last year February. And I was between 11-20 and I got a viewing 2 weeks ago. But when I went to view there was another person there I was so confused 😕 so I spoke to the housing lady when she got there asking how comes there is another person here and she told me there is 5 people turning up unculding my self. I was position 4 for the property. However I never got the property. Does this mean I'm going down in the list because the next property I've bidded say 1 to 5. Does anyone knows how this works I'm housing association also band A

Thank you

Hi everyone,

Im on band B and bidded on a new build property. When it ended, I was placed 6-10 whilst shortlisting. When I logged onto locata on the Friday it changed to being 1-5 and states “offered to you”. Since then I have not been contacted regarding this property or even been sent any confirmation email for being well placed and I am still able to bid on other properties. But my status says “offered”.

Does anyone know why it suddenly changed from 6-10 to now being offered to me and if I will be contacted regarding a viewing? And does this also mean I am number 1 for this property? I am not in rent arrears so I really hope this is good news.

Please let us know if you got the property? I’m in the same situation now

Hiya, I did end up getting the property and provided all the documents required after viewing. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for the keys since there’s a delay as it’s a new build. If you’re in a similar situation, the property is yours but there could just be a delay. Is it a new build?

You’re welcome!! They should definitely contact you soon since it’s been offered to you. I was contacted about 2 weeks later. All the best xx

Hi there! It's frustrating not to get timely responses in these situations, especially with so many variables at play. I've experienced something similar while playing the Slope Game, where patience is key to achieving high scores.

Hi everyone
Any one getting viewing property if homeless band C? , I see my self in ranking 6-10, status showing rejected, meant 1-5 has been rejected will offer to 6_10.
