Hi, I am looking for inspiration on hobbies and interests... I am a SAHM and now at a stage where I feel I need to do something... I go Trampolining once a week.. but thats once a week.. I need something else... I did think of going to college - but can't afford it.. so thats out... and ideally like to do something at home anyway so I can still spend time with DH. So what do any of you do? See if there is anything that interests me...

Thanks

This would mean going out, but what about Salsa class? I've been going for a few years now and it's a hoot, AND have made some new friends into the bargain. My DH wasn't interested, so I go on my own but that doesn't matter, you don't dance with the same person the whole time. Nice to have some "me" time.
I also do some card-making. Not very well, but is relaxing and doesn't have to be time consuming.
Used to knit and do tapestry, but not done anything like that for ages.
I also love cooking and occasionally take out one of my cookery books and decide I'll try something new, that takes longer/is more complex than the average family meal.
Not sure if any of that appeals, but will watch this thread with interest as I need some new interests too.

At home, I like doing pottery and painting - not v. good at either, but I enjoy making stuff and find nothing gets out your frustrations better than slamming a big lump of clay around! Evening classes will get you started if you need it, but otherwise a step-by-step book from the library and a wodge of air-hardening clay will see you right.

Outside of the home, before dd my main interest was horseriding, that's now gone out the window as DH does not come home to relieve me in time to get to our nearest stableyard at a decent hour... My main outside interest is amateur dramatics, most local associations are very friendly and I've discovered a whole new social life since joining my local group! (if you look up NODA on the internet they have lists of local groups, or check out your local paper).

Good luck

What about learning to belly dance?

How about art? Buy yourself some basic materials and see whether you're an undiscovered Picasso. You can set your stuff up and DS's kid's art stuff and go at it together.

Also how about yoga? All you need is a mat and a vid. My DS does it with me.

I've recently started running too; I have DS practically all the time, he's 4, so when I go for a run he comes with me on his bike. It's like a spoof of that scene from Rocky where he's out with his trainer...

Creative writing is something nice and cathartic too for when the wee ones are in bed and your brain's still chugging over.

learning an instrument? I started guitar a year ago and love it.
