Haloo.Just wanted some opinions fro people who have moved to Ireland to live and of course fom people who are Irish and have lived,do still live here.Opinions on the Politics,Laws,Education,Work etc.
I moved here from the UK and although i used to visit lots to see family I find living here extremely difficult in many ways.Just wondered how others have found it.Thanks in advance

DH always thinks it is hilarious when we are in Ireland and people refer to me as 'the English woman'. To him, I still sound very Irish, whereas at home apparently, I sound very, very English.
Talk about an identity crisis!

ellie, that's like a guy I dated years back from London, his dad was Irish but his mum was English, we used to reffer to him affectionately as a plastic paddy.

TheCurseOfTheMhummy · 24/10/2007 00:25

Here's your sis Kerry, see you tomorrow at some stage on our get fit thread?

elliephant · 24/10/2007 00:27

lol mhummy! frankendooby let us know do you still love us and are you going to stay (needy irish emotion to be liked by everyone) or are you packing your bags and taking the first mail boat to hollyhead. really have to go to bed

TheCurseOfTheMhummy · 24/10/2007 00:35

Lol ellie, Oiche Mhait.

chipmonkeyPumpkinNorks · 24/10/2007 00:47

Ellie, I think you'll find it's Holyhead with one "L"
Mhamai, I think you'll find that it's Oiche Mhaith, with a "h" at the end.
Or am I just turning into Desi?

elliephant · 24/10/2007 00:50

wasn't sure about that! certainly been one 'l' of a topic.

chipmonkeyPumpkinNorks · 24/10/2007 00:58

im almost off to bed.

my mum asked me what i wanted to get the bairns for Xmas - basically, i send ehr the links for what i want, she buys it in the US for about half what it costs here, then brings it to us when they come across at the beginning of December.

so i've been shopping for the wee ones!
