He's regularly writing letters of disgust to the Lord Chancellor about our new compensation culture and political correctness. Vote Charles!!

That's what I thought too when I heard it on the news.
The news item was along the lines of "Prince Charles has been criticised for meddling in politics by writing letters...." etc.

No criticism from me.

I like Prince Charles too, esp. the way he sticks up for organic farming and rural life. And anyone who gets up Tone's nose so much has to be a good thing!

Hmmmmm - that's as maybe, but I still can't forgive him for the way he treated poor Diana. I just wish he'd been allowed to marry Camilla in the first place !

I have always had a very soft spot for Charles, and I thought this was wonderful. Apparently he has been writing letters to allsorts of ministers and they are getting a bit fed up with him. We need a royal who isn't afraid to get involved. Should I open a can of worms by saying that I never really liked Diana anyway?

Honest Scatterbrain, I wouldn't be offended by anyones opinion of the royals. One of my very good friends is a di fan, we have many a happy (!) hour debating it, esp after drinks Wouldn't want to start an incident like some of the ones that there have been recently tho'!_

I wonder whether Prince Charles wrote heartfelt letters to the Thatcher govt, bemoaning the plight of the miners back in the 80s as their communities were being ripped apart...without a set-aside grant in sight.

I have always had a soft spot for the old Charles and Camilla thing...great to think that despite marrying the beautiful young blonde Diana he still held a candle for the older, less ,shall we say aesthetic looking Camilla and that they got to be together in the end (which they should have done in the first place and saved bu**ering up poor old Di's life)

My views on Prince Charles are confined to his bacon and other delicious comestibles but it does make me laugh to think of various government officials being deluged with constant letters from him.

Hear hear Bells, we are rarely without his sausages in our house. It did cross my mind that said letters might have been written in capitals in green biro...right on, Bundle. Thanks for reminding us that some threatened communities are more photogenic than others.

I do feel a bit sorry for the farmers (but you should see where we live, if I didn't our house would be sprayed with muck on a regular basis ), but to say that they are as discriminated against as gay people or black people is madness. I don't recall the last time a minority group got given 6 billion pounds worth of subsidies. I think its time for the farmers to be a bit humble and think about other industries that have been utterly run down, like the British manufacturing industry - and what about the poor hoteliers in this country who lost their entire livelihoods over foot and mouth and didn't receive a penny in subsidies.

Oh Enid, £6 billion, well I don't know of anyone in our area who has "creamed" the subsidy scale to that rate!!

The farmers who get most of the subsidy money are those who are arable, not the beef/sheep ones like me and most of the rest of them. Subsidy is in place so that you can feed your animals throughout the winter as that is when most of the money arrives and we get some in the spring LFASS so that feriliser etc can be paid for.

This is the main problem the farming community has, people like yourself who think they know what subsidy is all about, and really don't have a clue, I am not trying to be offensive, but, all of the rural businesses within communities are having a really shitty time at the moment, and I for one don't see why those of us who have cattle and sheep should justify ourselves as to why we receive subsidy in the first place.

What makes it even worse that within the next 4 years the quota systems for cattle and sheep will be removed and all subsidy will be based on area payments, in conjunction with your total Livestock units on you farm combining total Suckler Cow Claims and Sheep Annual Premium Schemes over the past 2 years. We will be £5000 WORSE off in one farm, and £2000 worse off in the other, it may seem like a lot of money but, in reality it is really pennies when it comes to paying the feed merchant and the vet etc.

I am totally behind Prince Charles and Princess Anne has added her comments as well.
