Heels that rub on shoes, any suggestions!

I have a new pair of shoes that I am going to wear to a wedding in a couple of weeks time. They fit fine but they are quite stiff and hard and I just know that they are going to kill me, the heel is especially stiff and hard and I'll end up with huge blisters. Any suggestions of stuff that I can use that will soften them up a bit and that works!!!!

  1. take a candle
2. rub it on the inside back (& sides if necessary) of the shoes 3. wear the shoes

The heat from your foot will soften and melt the wax thereby softening the leather.

Scholls sell an anti-blister spray that's very good. I have very tender feet and it even works for me!

isnt it soap that they use on horses saddles?

I've always been told to rub the inside with the back of a spoon. Strange, but it does work.

You used to be able to buy padded things that stick onto the heel for exactly this reason? From those key cutting places that took the old fashioned cobblers role in the high street!!

Boots do padded mole-skin type things that you cut to size - they are brilliant!

I would have said what Jampot suggested but when you have rubbed them with a candle (so that the wax is worked into the leather), put a thin layer of talcum powder on as this keeps the pores of the leather open (and if it doesn't you will have sticky shoe heels!) No, really my Mum and my Nan both used to do this to my school shoes and it definitely works.

Bit of an aside here (but still on a shoe theme)!

I bought some Scholl 'Party Feet' - gel things that you put in your shoes to stop you getting sore feet from too much dancing / walking.
Tried for the first time last night, near the end of the night I thought 'Hmmm not worked too well - my feet are killing'. Investigated shoes to find the gel things wedged right in the toes of each shoe ! Useless, unless they couldn't cope with the large amount of dancing !
