Hello all I haven't knitted in almost 2 decades & I am trying to knit now to occupy my mind. But unfortunately, due to an acquired brain injury, I can not remember how to read a pattern. I would sincerely appreciate help in understanding the attached pattern, please. Thanks

Can you give us the first line or two? I tend to find once I get started I’m usually ok

Here is the pattern finally attached phew

I have Dont 63 stitches
Row 1 (knit 7. Purl 7) 4 times
This means I have 28 stitches left not 7 to knit as the pattern suggests
I am sure I am missing something as usual 🙄 pls help

Ummm it sounds right to me OP. Knit 7 purl 7, that makes 14. Times 4 - that makes 56, plus K7, that makes 63 stitches.

I agree with lazylinguist. That's how I read it.

If you have trouble with any particular stitches there are a lot of videos on You Tube. Wool And The Gang and We Are Knitters have some very clear ones.

Eventually you should end up with a pattern of alternating squares, a bit like this but a lot bigger and without the border.
