Man found murdered on my estate

A man who lives in the block opposite to the one i sued to live in was found dead in his bed on tuesday morning. Most people weren't that surprised as he was quite starnge and was always threateneing to kill himself.
He used to take this womans kids to school and do her shopping. She treat him like s**t making him do everything she said and she used to pay him in drink.
Apparently her husband has beat him up on several occasions after thinking there was something going on between then which i don't think there was.
I wasn't overly keen on him as he was creepy, but my neighbour was quite friendly with him and felt sorry for him e.t.c.

Anyway she has just been round here absolutly hysterical as it has just been on the news that he was actually murdered, suffocated infact.
They have arrested a man from this area but noone knows who yet (lots of ideas though).
Apparently the woman whois kids he looked after was the one who found him, but know one is sure why she went over to his flat at that time of the morning.

It's all very odd, sad and worying.
I only spoke to him on monday afternoon as he always asked after my Ds. Like i said he was a bit creepy but his heart was in the right place.

Just heard it on the local news and apparently a 39 yr old man has appeared in court this morning, so they would have charged him then is that right ???

Will they release his name ???

yes, if he has been charged

crikes, its horrible isnt when it happens so close. At the feild at the end of my MIl's road they found a womans body, and it turned out we actually knew her killer really creeps me out

Northerner · 21/10/2004 12:09

That's awful Nutty

whimsy · 21/10/2004 12:09

If he has appeared in court then I think thats a sign they've charged him.

nutcracker · 21/10/2004 12:10

Well i think the killer may be rather close to home in this case too.

If it is them it will be even more shocking.

Has made me feel odd i can tell you.

To think my mom lives in the next block and we used to live opposite. I can see the blokes flat from my back windows too.

Whatever happened he didn't deserve it.

Well we were all right unfortunatly, and the killer was the husband of the woman whos' kids he took to school.

I am shocked although i did think it might be him, it's awful. He lived almost right behind my house and my Dd1 had once seen him beating their dog

God this sounds awful, there is nothing but murders, shooting, burgarlies ending in violence, the world has gone crazy.

It must be quite scary for you nutcracker, living near to where such an awful situation has occured.

jampot · 22/10/2004 14:12

nutty - that's really shocking but at least the husband will (hopefully) be locked up

Skate · 22/10/2004 14:14

Nutty, that's awful and very sad.

These things happen wherever you live though don't they and are rarely random (ie, victim usually knows the assailant and there's usually a 'reason' iykwim).

nutcracker · 22/10/2004 16:31

Skate - I have been saying that very same thing to my neighbour today as she is really upset and said she now wants to move.

Have heard this afternoon that he gave himself up. Probably because he knew that everyone would know it was him, i mean everyone had guessed before they even found out so it wouldn't have taken the police long.

He is in custody now and i should think may get life as he has previous convictions for violence and other crimes.
He desevrves life anyhow.
