Dishwasher question

I've just been donated a dishwasher - but all my crockery comes out soapy tasting (to the the point I've just put a cup of coffee down the sink). Is this normal? Are you supposed to rinse it all off afterwards? Sorry if this sounds stupid but never had a diswasher before.

No not normal. What are you using in the machine ? Have you added rinse aid and salt ?

sarah573 · 15/10/2007 20:44

Yes it has rinse aid and salt in it - used a finish tablet.

What sort of finish tablet - if it's a powerball or quantum you don't need salt and rinse aid - they're all in one, too much salt can soften the water so much the machine cant rinse properly.

have you put one of those diswasher freshner things in it? we did once, made everything taste disgusting [yuk emoticon]

LIZS · 15/10/2007 20:46

Perhaps you have it on a low water cycle which hasn't diluted the tablet enough

sarah573 · 15/10/2007 20:50

Yes it was a powerball - im guessing the rinse aid and salt wouldn't do it any harm though?

We did have it on the quick cycle - but was the same on the longer one earlier.

And there is a freshner thing in it - which Im just off to remove now!!

stick it back on again without the freshner to take the taste away .
