.....Jessica?

It has to go with Charlotte and Eve, suit a surname starting with M (think a few of you know the surname now from Facebook)

Middle name is Rae, that's a definite as always want to be reminded of her birth and the sun RAYS streaming through trees as I was in labour etc.

Have tried Ella, Lauren and Elizabeth and all the shortenings but not for us. Tried random others but the ones I like D doesn't and visa versa.

So, what do we all think of Jess / Jessica?

Jessica Rae M--- ?

Is there a better name for her out there and if so where the hell is it and why haven't I found it yet?

Can you come up with a better alternative? If not Jessica it is.

TC xx

Phoebe Rae sounds cool I think.

bright and radiant ray.

Hassled · 15/10/2007 09:32

I like Jessica a lot - all the Jessicas I've know have been lovely.
But if we are naming a kitten - Tabitha

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 15/10/2007 09:32

I always loved Emily as a girl's name.

pooka · 15/10/2007 09:35

You should go for the name you like.

Fraid I'm not mad keen on Jessica, but prob because:
a) I have a lisp, so would sound a bit too cutesy and "Jethica" like for me
b) Makes me think of Some Mothers do Have'em - Frank Spencer's daughter was JEssica.

So wouldn't work for me. But for you, if it works, it works.

Other alternatives: I like Kitty a lot. What about Millie (though would be MM, and I know some people don't like having same initials for first and surnames).
Phillipa? Lots of shortenings there and also a lovely name. Eleanor/Helena/Elena?

Good luck! Am most impressed by your ability to leave it and wait see when it comes to naming. Although I love my dc's names, I do sometimes think we were a bit narrow and closed and chose names too quickly.

pooka · 15/10/2007 09:39

Ooops - just saw that you're not keen on Philippa (but you don't necessarily have to shorten to Pippa). Could be Pip, Pippy, Phil.

Helena means "the bright one"
Lucy? (am partisan as is dd's name, but means Light)
Susanna?

MrsJohnCusack · 15/10/2007 09:49

oh I love Martha

traditional names - erm - Alexandra, Emily, Sally

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 15/10/2007 09:52

Eloise is another personal fave.

orangehead · 15/10/2007 09:56

I like jessica and jessie. I also like Nyah

womba1 · 15/10/2007 10:06

I have a Caitlin and my dh often calls her Kitty. Her middle name is Erin but we also loved Eloise, Harriet and Ella.

Jessica is pretty but my ds has 3 Jessica's in his class, which would put me off slightly.

Thomcat · 15/10/2007 11:07

Have returned. It's still Jessica so far. She seems to suit it and look like a Jess.

Jessica Rae is lovely TC. Nearly used Rae as a middle-name for my dd2 who is Ellen (Ellen Bethany as it turns out). Eve and Ellen is possibly a bit too E-oriented though. I think that Briony Rae is nice too, but that might be just because it was a name I really liked for my dds but didn't get to use. I think that if she looks like a Jessica you should go with Jessica.

Good luck

RubyShivers · 15/10/2007 11:15

Jessica is a lovely name and shortened it is still very pretty (jess, jessie etc)
Martha is a lovely name too

ledodgy · 15/10/2007 11:20

Jessica is nice but if I had another girl she would be called May (obviously a no, no if the middle name is Rae though lol). I also like Ava and Martha.

floaty · 15/10/2007 13:15

Jessica is lovely , what about Georgia Rae ,many congrats by the way gorgeous pictures .

BrownSuga · 15/10/2007 13:18

oh dear, i was going to suggest biscuit, but now realise it's not an ACTUAL kitten LOL!

popsycal · 15/10/2007 13:21

another vote for martha.

Ds2 was going to be martha and I have grown to love it even more in the last few years.

Martha Rae

Fimbo · 15/10/2007 13:24

Susannah
Abigail
Phoebe
Annabel

EllHell · 15/10/2007 13:24

Martha is a lovely name, but could be problematic with the M... surname. Too much alliteration in names is not a good thing.

Thomcat · 15/10/2007 14:28

LOL at realising how some you thought I was referring to a small cat!

Think I have a new fav actually!

SADIE

I think I prefer it, just have to gently coax D round to it now. He doesn't not like it but think he prefers Jessica.

yaddayah · 15/10/2007 14:31

Biscuit is a fab fame !

Though concedes Jessica is probably more appropriate !

yaddayah · 15/10/2007 14:33

Sadie ..erm

Flounders

prefer jessica biscuit tbh

pointydog · 15/10/2007 14:38

love sadie

pointydog · 15/10/2007 14:38

(but jessica is a good name toio)

scorpio1 · 15/10/2007 14:39

also Jessamy/ Jessamine.

miobombino · 15/10/2007 14:41

Jessica Rae trips smoothly off the tongue and J is a pretty name.

What about Ruby Rae ? Maybe a bit too funky when compared to Charlotte and Evie which are more classic, but I think it's cool !
