DH seen doctor today, who is going to prescribe him some viagra style medicine, as he's having trouble 'keeping it up' (which rather hampers our attempts at ttc again).

Had assumed it would just come on normal prescription, but apparently it can only be prescribed privately, which means he has to pay about £40 for 5 tablets! Jeez - no wonder I'm always getting emails offering cheap viagra, if it's this expensive to get through proper channels.

Better be worth it .

(Am a regular btw, but changing names to protect dh ).

A bit of sympathy for my recent lack of sex wouldn't go amiss you know!

this is rubbish

you can get it on an NHS prescription, but they will only give you 4 per month

(one shag a week is clearly QUITE enough!)

you really need to complain and say how severely this is affecting your relationship and you are not doing it for recreational purposes

what medication is it? lots of them you will find are just as effective is split into 2 / 3 or even 4 (in the case of 100mg viagra) - your DH will need to test it out under various circumstances and see how he reacts

here

"If erectile dysfunction is judged to cause you severe distress, you can also receive treatment on the NHS - although this will need to be assessed by a specialist.]]

Not sure what it's called yet mp. He has to go back a week on Monday for it as GP wants to check his blood pressure again first (has been high at 2 visits so far, though lower today than last time). It will apparently be one that he can take in the morning and will still work in the evening though (unlike viagra).

GP knows that we are ttc (and have history of taking a looooong time to achieve success), so that it's not purely recreational.

4 a month would do for ttc purposes, and if dh wants sex at another time then he'll have to work for it .

Can you reference anywhere that says we are entitled to some on NHS? It's not that we can't afford it really - I was just surprised that it wasn't free.

You do have to go in there making it clear you are both VERY DISTRESSED

Basically they don't want to give it out for recreational purposes

Make it clear that it is affecting your mental health and you should be entitled to it

Ah, I think the GP knows that we are too chilled for that. I guess we'll just have to swallow the cost (pun intended!) .
