I hate selling houses (even more than buying them!)...

we put our house in the market in sept and the first people thro the door offered us asking price...the sale fell thro last week (no reason given) so we have to restart the whole process having lost a (crucial) month...

the papers are all doom and gloom and we just really want to sell it (we can't live in it as it's in the countryside, originally we intended to move there, but it hasn't worked out, and we can't leave london, it's crippling us financially).

every day i wait for the agent to call,it's like when you really fancied someone and you had a sick feeling in your stomach waiting for the phone to ring...it's horrible...i know we probably won't sell before xmas and then there will be a massive crash and we are screwed...

no point to this post other than to express my tortured mind...argh, i hate it so much!

thanks for getting this far if you have...

Good luck Hulablly - no interest here, no more viewings.

blossomhill · 07/11/2004 20:09

Hula - It's a really nice house. Just makes me realise how over-priced houses are where I love. You would have to pay £50-70k more for that house where I live!

Gobbledigook · 07/11/2004 20:21

BH - same here - a house that size would be at least £250K here.

Hulababy · 07/11/2004 20:26

Have to say that it is a good price, even for here. We looked at another property earlier in year (just before the slow down) and it was £235k. It was just round the corner from this one. But, although slow down is good for buying we still have to sell - and it means ours won't be going for as high as it might have at another time.

Hulababy · 08/11/2004 08:34

Well, feeling even more positive about this house this morning. Now we have had time to consider it more it really does feel as though we could make this our own Now we have to persaude the man to buy our place! DH is going to register our interest with the house this morning; and he is going to chase his client too.

PicadillyCircus · 10/11/2004 13:12

Might be managing to succeed in this [fingers crossed icon].

Investor put in silly offer on our house which we rejected but have pushed him up a bit. The people selling the house we love had already offered to reduce their price, and we've put in an even lower offer.....which they are accepting .

Now of course it will all go wrong, but maybe it won't [hopeful icon]

muddaofsuburbia · 10/11/2004 13:14

We got an offer this morning!! £15K less than the asking price which I thought was a bit cheeky, but an offer nonetheless!! We refused it, but I guesss they might increase it if they're keen?

Changing estate agents today anyway and moving on Monday!! Hurrah!! Too many exclamation marks!!

pootlepod · 11/11/2004 16:01

After 6 very quiet weeks, we have had a fair few viewers (and sensible ones that might actually want to buy it rather than timewasters)and had an offer at £4k below asking price!

Might, just might start looking at places now.

sweetkitty · 11/11/2004 21:16

sophabaubles · 10/12/2004 13:17

Well done Smile.

We are currently having mortgage hassles. I used my stern accountant voice with them this morning and we may be getting somewhere.

PamiNativity · 10/12/2004 13:28

Hulababy · 10/12/2004 21:24

sophabaubles - Congratulations Grin Very exciting!

Our sale is now going ahead steadily.

Our recent house buy has now fallen through though. the survey was not good news and too much work for us to take on. Been to see some houses this week but very uninspired. Going to see the plans for some brand new town houses in good area tomorrow (thank you for help katzguk Grin ). Won't be ready for a year but we have seen some houses to rent in same area. It's a fab school and we are really tempted by the plans so far. Don't think we are ready to buy an older house and to deal witht he maintenance required.

GingerBells · 10/12/2004 21:32

Oh bugger Hula, I am sorry about your prospective house being too much to take on. Old houses are lovely (ours is over 250 yrs old) but they are hard work, need lots of loving care and can become a cavernous pit as far as spending money on them goes.

Fingers crossed that you will find somewhere soon.

Hulababy · 10/12/2004 21:48

Cheers Gingerbells. I think it has very much made us realise that we are not the older house type of people. We just don't have what it takes to maintain one - not into DIY, etc. so it could get costly payign for everything to be done.

Think we will try and go for a new (or newish) place. At the end of the day, I do like modern homes anyway - it's what I have always had since leavig home and what I am used to. Feel quite happy with that thought and decision now :)

GingerBells · 10/12/2004 22:15

If you find an old barn, I could get my brother to do a fab conversion for you (you should see one that he did in Campsall - looks like an old stone barn from the outside, but fab brand new inside - best of both worlds!)

Hulababy · 10/12/2004 22:18

Sounds lovely :) Now, do you reckon I can find a barn within a couple of miles of the city centre maybe???

sophabaubles · 10/12/2004 22:21

thanks hula. hasn't really sunk in yet tbh
:o

Hulababy · 10/12/2004 22:24

Do you have a moving in date yet?

sophabaubles · 10/12/2004 22:25

is that to me hula?

Hulababy · 10/12/2004 22:26

Yes, sorry.

sophabaubles · 10/12/2004 22:29

no. we are renting in london at the moment. so now we will go househunting. we bought in dorset originally intending to move down there but for many reasons this didn't happen and it has been hellish living between the two tbh...

am so relieved that now we can get finances sorted and have a home that we actually live in...now it's starting to sink in...am overjoyed actually!

we complete on monday (please god!).

x

Hulababy · 10/12/2004 22:30

Fingers crossed for you for Monday.

Happy house hunting :)
