Legal Aid How do you qualify?

Does anyone know how you qualify for Legal Aid - I assumed that I wouldn't as this is a private matter. But a solicitor says I might....

PS does anyone know the difference between a lawyer and a solicitor?

Even if you use both DH's and my income we probably qualify....and if we only use mine then we definately do
