sounds odd but the other day i sat down and worked out that we buy about 4 or 6 bottles of squash. that sounds odd enough but there is only me and my partner no children living here or visiting.
i only like orange mixed not plain orange sugar free of course. we rarely have hot drinks tend to have them if we go out to a cafe for a treat.
anyway i was thinking we must get through an awful lot and i just wondered what is the thing you buy most of every week an unusual item

I have to have at least 2 jars of Shito sauce in the cupboard and one open one in the fridge. It’s a hot Ghanaian sauce and I bloody love it.

Also we get through unholy amounts of hummus and pitta bread.

Anchovies. I eat so many anchovies.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 23/08/2020 23:49

Crispy dried onions.

I scatter them over things like curries for a bit of crunch, and sometimes on salads. You can also gently heat them in a bit of oil to add an little onion flavour without adding a whole onion.

I suspect the reason they go so quickly though is because I can eat them on their own with a bit of salt sprinkled over them...

DH is south african so we get through an inordinate amount of droewors, boerewors and biltong. And meat generally. We also have mielie pap, and an array of Pro-Nutro cereals. DH likes to make his own boerewors as well so we buy spices and worcester sauce in bulk. I currently have a 5l bottle of lea and perrins in my pantry.

I don't know if its strange, but I've just discovered Skyr and I love it. The fruit flavours and the plain. I haven't bothered with any other kind of yoghurt since I first tried it and I buy it by the bucketload. I used to eat loads of full fat Muller fruit corners before so I think this is a lot healthier and actually nicer.
I also buy a lot of red peppers as my teenage son eats them like sweets.

Peanut butter (must be smooth and Sunpat) which we buy in quantities of 6 jars each time. DH and I have very cold spoonfuls with hot tea in the evening. Best thing ever but friends think it's strange....

Sardines/Richards in tomato sauce and pork tongue are some of my regular lunch items. No one else in my household will touch them.

Dotinthecity · 24/08/2020 03:44

Pilchards NOT Richards!!!

Coffee4Queen · 24/08/2020 03:57

South African brand of creamstyle sweet corn. I only use it in one recipe but will have about 4 tins of the stuff in my cupboard.

Terrace58 · 24/08/2020 04:08

There are always at least 6 kinds of pickles in my refrigerator at any given moment.

labazsisgoingmad · 24/08/2020 17:12
