I feel so let down (pics included)

I feel so let down happened twice. I got my garden decked a few weeks ago I paid £250 for this guy to do it (side job) he does normally do this type of work though. I paid him £250 and paid £600 for the wood. It was so bad I asked him for £100 back to try and improve it. It’s not just the £250
It’s the £600 product ruined. (See pics) After a week of lies and false promises he’s not gave us the £100 thinks I was born yesterday. Feel so frustrated with the lies more then the money now.

Second let down. (Hairdresser) had the same hairdresser for a few years but she moved miles away so decided to go local to a small business she charged me £75 for a full head of highlights I paid £65 with last hairdressers but was happy to pay more to be happy with my hair. I know it’s a small amount in some places but £50/80 is about the going rate. Anyway I hate my hair it’s green/brassy the root has bled it’s bad tied up as well as down. She replied...
I'll have a look on thursday the only other option is I could put a couple of foils in but you would have to go home with them in and wash it off yourself I'm literally working every day until 7.30 mostly and I'm full until september now ither than the 13th x

Opinions please?? Have I just had bad luck 😨🤦‍♀️

Don’t take your hairdresser up on that foils idea (this might cause more issues and she isn’t covered by her insurance !)

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 29/07/2020 08:38

I don’t think any hairdresser with decent professional standards would suggest putting dye on your hair and sending you away left to your own devices. That’s as shocking as the result of the finished job.

Lifeisconfusing · 29/07/2020 17:08

Just an update I asked for a refund and she messaged me this....:

I'm really sorry you feel this way it could be because of it being to light for your natural root it could just need some darker foils in to blend it in... I would never normally refund money as I would always like the opportunity for you to be happy with your hair. On this occasion I will refund your money back to you as I dont have a spare appointment until august... However I do not use paypal so if you could send me your bank details or come in to the shop and I'll refund your card!

@Lifeisconfusing I can't believe "I'm really sorry you feel this way" is her response to being so unprofessional & doing such a bad job in the first place! At least she hasn't refused to give the refund

Lifeisconfusing · 29/07/2020 18:07

I know how cheeky. It’s like sorry you feel like that passing the responsibility on me.

backseatcookers · 29/07/2020 19:14

I'm a PR and she sounds media trained! "We are sorry if the public felt that..." "We are sorry that some people thought that..." etc etc. Glad at least you'll get your dosh back for a shoddy job. Poor you, it's horrible saving for stuff then feeling like it's all gone on nothing! Thanks

Mummyshark2018 · 29/07/2020 19:37

That was cheap for decking and yes it isn't amazing it was cheap. We paid 3k recently to get ours down and that was mates rated.

giantangryrooster · 29/07/2020 19:47

You are unlucky Thanks.

But learn from this, no more side jobs.

Re. Your hair, if your new hairdresser won't do anything, try ketchup for the green. Didn't know about this before I read it on MN, but you can google it, should do the trick. But wow that hairdresser isn't very good.

FaceOfASpink · 29/07/2020 19:56

Apart from the sticking up board you got what you paid for with the decking. Can't comment on the hair though.

Hairthrowaway · 29/07/2020 19:58

That’s good, the next problem is that it will probably cost more than £75 to fix it

booroo · 29/07/2020 20:31

Ok so the osmo she sent you a pic off will stop
The hair getting brassier and is useful for light blondes/platinums maintenance but isn't a fix at all.
What did she use on your hair? Did she bleach it?
Sorry she's done such an sloppy job it the worst feeling when your hair isn't right

Lifeisconfusing · 29/07/2020 21:42

@booroo it was my friend he recommended that shampoo. Not sure what she used was just a full head of highlights x

I think the decking is fine and very reasonable for £250! Honestly it’s fine and with a proper stain will look lovely.

Beautiful3 · 29/07/2020 21:47

That's great that you're getting a refund. Well done you. Perhaps use some purple shampoo to tone it down, until you find another hairdresser.

SmileyClare · 29/07/2020 22:01

I think I'd be more upset with the hair. I mean you don't have to walk round with the decking on your head everyday.

Your hair is crying out for toner. That will transform the colour.

I strongly recommend Bleach London White toner- easy to do at home, just follow instructions. That I'll knock out the brassiness and give you a cleaner cool toned blonde.

Wash every time with a purple shampoo to maintain; Lee Stafford bleach blonde purple shampoo is great (Boots)
And get a hair appointment as soon as you can- no need to wait for regrowth. Those roots can be blended up to the hairline fairly easily.
It'll all be fine Smile

No idea about decking. It's ok/passable but should be a 2 man job to lay I think.

booroo · 29/07/2020 22:04

@Lifeisconfusing
I'm guessing she's used bleach and likely hasn't put a toner on afterwards a toner will reduce the brassiness but it won't fix it entirely (but it is fixable by an experienced hairdresser)

I'd Ask a decent salon for a toner to be applied to help correct the colour and it should make a difference for you :)
And if you find the you trust them let them fix it x

Why is that line so sharp?? It’s literally like she forgot about you mid way through the appointment

Hope tomorrow goes better and you end up I love with your hair!!

Lifeisconfusing · 29/07/2020 22:15

We have sorted the decking we’ve had someone in today to turn the boards around and use decking screws and it’s now solid and painted. Will update you with my hair and decking tomorrow thanks for all your opinions.

Floralnomad · 29/07/2020 22:15

The decking job is crap but I agree with a pp that £250 for that amount of decking is so cheap it was fairly obvious that it was likely to be - pay peanuts and you get monkeys . At least the hairdresser is refunding you .

Lifeisconfusing · 29/07/2020 22:15

@Hairthrowaway you’ve been so lovey and supportive Thankyou Flowers

Glad she refunded your hair. It's a terrible job

nannymags · 29/07/2020 22:21

This. Ight not be what you wanted to hear but your hair before was a beautiful colour! Very classy / “expensive”looking . The new lady has not done a great job. Chucky highlights. Missed the roots. Brassy khaki colour.
Good luck! I empathise as I hate standing up for myself also! Xxxxx

Lifeisconfusing · 29/07/2020 22:21

@Floralnomad just to clarify to all who has said it’s cheap for decking we paid £600 for the wood and £250 for the man to do it. Yes it was cheap for him to do it but he gave me that price. It’s not just £250 it’s £600 product wasted as such. The photos don’t maybe show how bad it was.
1 there is meant to be a pencil size gap between the boards on mine I have most of them closed he didn’t use decking screws I asked him if he wanted me to buy decking screws he said no he had all the screws!!
2 it’s it was split in places
3 it was warped like a boomerang
4 screws where all over the place
5 massive gap around the fence grass growing all around it.
The list goes on. Iv learnt my lesson and it’s all good now.

@nannymags I kind of wanted to hear that because I thought it was just me by what she was saying to me x
