I feel so let down happened twice. I got my garden decked a few weeks ago I paid £250 for this guy to do it (side job) he does normally do this type of work though. I paid him £250 and paid £600 for the wood. It was so bad I asked him for £100 back to try and improve it. It’s not just the £250
It’s the £600 product ruined. (See pics) After a week of lies and false promises he’s not gave us the £100 thinks I was born yesterday. Feel so frustrated with the lies more then the money now.

Second let down. (Hairdresser) had the same hairdresser for a few years but she moved miles away so decided to go local to a small business she charged me £75 for a full head of highlights I paid £65 with last hairdressers but was happy to pay more to be happy with my hair. I know it’s a small amount in some places but £50/80 is about the going rate. Anyway I hate my hair it’s green/brassy the root has bled it’s bad tied up as well as down. She replied...
I'll have a look on thursday the only other option is I could put a couple of foils in but you would have to go home with them in and wash it off yourself I'm literally working every day until 7.30 mostly and I'm full until september now ither than the 13th x

Opinions please?? Have I just had bad luck 😨🤦‍♀️

Your poor hair! She really has done a poor job.

The decking is sloppy, but you're unlikely to see the money again since you paid him in cash.

Sunshineonrainydays · 29/07/2020 01:56

I’m sorry to hear about your misfortunes OP.
For the last 10 minutes I’ve been trying to figure out how to blank out my face so I can post a picture of my side show bob hairstyle and give you a laugh to cheer you up. I’ve had the worst haircut imaginable - think mushroom / basin cut - after asking for a long bob!
How did you blank out your face on your hair picture? I’ve got an iPhone but I’m no good with it! Confused

Sunshineonrainydays · 29/07/2020 02:05

I’ve just worked out how to obscure my face, are you ready for this......
Hopefully your hair colour can be rectified soon and / or will soften and blend in over time.
My hair will take at least 6 months to recover from this butchering job by which time I might feel brave enough to find another hairdresser!
Really OP, I’m just trying to say I feel your pain! I can’t sleep either! 😭

Jojobar · 29/07/2020 02:06

The decking is a bit sloppy but you paid 250 for labour, that's not even 2 days work. For that kind of money you will get corners cut. To be honest if it's solid and stable I wouldn't worry too much about it (in at least one photo a board looks loose, get him to nail that down) it's a rough finish but that's kind of what you expect at that price.

Lifeisconfusing · 29/07/2020 02:09

@Sunshineonrainydays bless you yeah show me

OP posts:
Lifeisconfusing · 29/07/2020 02:11

@Jojobar it only took a day and he gave me that price it was just a Saturday extra money job. My friend has know him years and Iv met him at her wedding so it was more of a friend helping out kind of price. But yeah my saying was always
(If you buy cheap you buy twice) we live and learn. Confused

@Sunshineonrainydays I think the problem with curly hair is if you get it cut it will look shorter! Are you naturally curly can you straighten it x

OP posts:
Sunshineonrainydays · 29/07/2020 02:24

This is exactly right re: the length. I left the salon and my hair was around my chin but by the time it fully dried I ended up with that monstrosity! The hairdresser was supposed to be a curly hair specialist and was recommended (similar to your situation). She was talking the talk but sadly when it came to it just wasn’t used to cutting naturally curly hair. I can’t really straighten it because I don’t want to risk further damage to my hairline which is fragile. So I’m thinking ride it out with hair bands! I actually started up a thread a couple of days ago asking for hair band suggestions!
Sorry OP I don’t mean to derail your thread I just wanted you to know you are not the only one disappointed with your hair. It’s quite a shock to the system isn’t it, but with time it will all be okay again!
Could you maybe wear some jazzy hair bands in the meantime like I’m intending to? Just a thought.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 29/07/2020 02:34

Oh OP and Sunshine I feel very sorry for you both. Just remember, it will grow back/ out although I know that doesn't help in the short term!

OP can you get your money back and go to a different salon to get it done properly?

And have either of you watched Fleabag? Theres a brilliant bad haircut scene in the second series.

Sunshineonrainydays · 29/07/2020 02:39

@EmmaGrundyForPM - Thank you for your kindness!
Re: Fleabag - Yes I have seen that scene, it’s the sister isn’t it with the bad haircut, I must watch it again. Thanks for that!

bubblesforlife · 29/07/2020 02:43

Ugh I empathise OP.
I’m lying away because I got back from the hairdressers tonight and have been so upset about how bad my colour is I can’t sleep. I let them know straight away how unhappy i was and why. They agreed to fix it but actually I don’t want to go back to the same hairdresser, she is the manager and is just really bad at what she does.
It cost me £193 in Toni and Guy I’m so upset.
I really want a refund. It’s so awful I feel like it’s so hard to get anything done properly. I always feel let down.

Lifeisconfusing · 29/07/2020 02:49

@bubblesforlife ahhh bless you have you got a pic of yours? That’s a lot of money. I have messaged mine asking for at least £50 if she doesn’t agree i will ring the bank. Xx

Are they allowed to tell customers to leave with foils in their hair and to wash it out themselves?
Just wondering would that be allowed under insurance rules? Surely if they put chemicals on peoples hair then it's up to them to ensure they are removed safely?

Dreamscomingtrue · 29/07/2020 02:54

That shampoo is good for making hair go a nice ash grey/silver tint. I coloured my hair at home last week and felt it was too bright and the shampoo/conditioner does make an improvement. But it won’t do anything for your roots. I’d definitely try to get my money back if I was you, through your card, but I’d also let the hairdresser know that she’s done a crap job. I’ve highlighted my own hair and it’s come out 100% better than that. Everyone knows, especially hairdressers, that you should colour as close to the root growth as possible!

Lifeisconfusing · 29/07/2020 02:57

@user1481840227 good point not professional

@Dreamscomingtrue Iv asked for £50
Back. I suspect she will say no

I know what you mean, but this gave me a smile 😁 and I really needed a smile today, I can't sleep either but thankfully my hair is ok(ish!)

I hope you all manage to get your hair sorted... And, you all get some sleep too.

avamiah · 29/07/2020 04:13

Lifeisconfusing
I have been there and done it and lost sleep over it and I had that terrible feeling in your stomach and you just worry all night about it.

Gingerkittykat · 29/07/2020 04:17

Did you pay £250 for one days work for the decking? That's a huge hourly rate for someone working cash in hand, not much of a favour really.

avamiah · 29/07/2020 04:19

But it can all be sorted, so don’t panic just keep calm and know that by next week it will all be sorted and you feel much happier.
Xx

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/07/2020 05:42

I think £250 to do the amount of decking in the photo is not very much so it’s unsurprising he’s done a bad job. Unfortunately the only way to rectify this is to get someone else in to sort it and that will entail a certain amount of starting from scratch.

As for your hair, I was going to say purple shampoo. But maybe the silver is better as this will possibly take the brassiness out better. You’ll have to try and see.

I would ask your former hairdresser for the brand and number of colours she used on your hair so that when you go to a new salon in a couple of months, you have the info and can choose a salon, which uses these colours.

And @Sunshineonrainydays
That looks even worse. It will grow. Silver lining.

RJnomore1 · 29/07/2020 05:51

I’d agree with mummy, £250 is peanuts for fitting decking and I can’t be surprised youve not got a perfect job for that. I’d expect two days work for 2 people to get the perfect so closer to £800 and I live somewhere relatively cheap or not London. I reckon you got what you paid for there 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hairs a different matter, bless, go get it sorted while you take up the refund issue anyway and you will feel much better.

Oblomov20 · 29/07/2020 05:57

Poor you.
Both are absolutely shocking.

I think you are going to have to contact a new builder to fix the decking. Do you have a town chatter on Facebook?

Your hair, go back to your original hairdresser. Drive to her house, even if it is miles away.
Get it done by her, until you do find a local replacement.

Keep asking for refunds back from both previous decks and hair.

Beautiful3 · 29/07/2020 06:59

Ask your old hair dresser which number dye she used, and give this information when you book else where.
