I was bored and so had a quick look at the chat rooms on AOL. I set up my profile on there ages ago as they had a parenting board but i never used it.
Today i clicked on the 20's chatroom and then changed my mind and closed it down but within seconds i had people contacting me via Instant messenger one asking if i wanted phone sex

I have blocked them all and deleted my profile but it doesn't seem to be stopping them, what do i do ???

Oh and yes i do know how stupid i was for even having a quick look

i get weird instant messages all the time, don't really know what to do about it, I just dont read them. would also love to know if there's some way of stopping them.

I have changed my settings thing to only accept people I know, hope it works.

Go to 'setup' on your buddy list. Click set preferences and go to Privacy tab. On there, select 'only allow those on buddy list...'

Well i was gonna do that but for some reason my buddy list is showing as empty so i had to click on 'just allow these people' and then input their names.

Does the same job - but you might find it better to put them in your buddy list and select that option. In future, you will only have to add new buddies once and not to both lists.

Have done that now, added people to buddy list and said to only allow people on there.
