Is anyone else a RUGBY WIDOW this evening?

I have just had the Rugby v Bucket full of French and Saunders battle. I won!! I am now chortling away while DH has been ejected to the pub to do his 'uni-clapping' (has anyone else encountered this strange male-sport-watching-phenomenon?) out of sight/sound of me. Hooray!

Yes, another one here (dh from NZ)

HighlandFling · 28/09/2007 21:32

Yes, pinkbubble, I know what you mean about 'please don't talk now'.

I made the effort for about 5 mins of the match before DH's departure to the pub, to show an interest in what was going on, and get involved, by instigating a conversation about the colour of the 2 teams socks, which in my opinion, were far too similar. I was told to be quiet as DH could not concentrate with me chipping in...

My dh is glued to it

Elffriend · 28/09/2007 21:33

Me! Hello fellow widows! Alas, it now means that my secret (addiction to mumsnet) has been discovered 'cos I'm bored, drinking more wine than intended and playing here whilst DH claps, comments and generally carries on conversations as though the team can hear him. Hey ho. Mind you, he does also keep reading over my shoulder so CAN be distracted. Thanks to another thread, I am also trying to work out which superhero(ine) I want to be. Which is way too intellectual following the day I've had...

DumbledoresGirl · 28/09/2007 21:33

Mercy is your dh pro English when NZ aren't playing or not? My dh is generally prepared to back England (after Oz and Ireland) but right now he is anti them. I think this is because he is worried England will meet Oz next and beat them as they did in the last World Cup.

faylisa · 28/09/2007 21:34

It really annoys my DH when I point out that the team an't actually hear the "advice" he is giving them!

pinkbubble · 28/09/2007 21:35

Hi DG(waves frantically) Hope all is ok!

Think it spoils the atmosphere, if they hear DC in background! Me, I personally think its lovely them playing nicely for once and not arguing, also go and watch the telly in another room!(what a good idea!!!!!)

HighlandFling · 28/09/2007 21:35

Is it a bit cruel that I have now curiously flicked the channel back to the rugby after ejecting DH to watch it elsewhere?!

OP posts:
mrsmalumbas · 28/09/2007 21:36

Yes DH watching it in the living room and me lurking in here - off to bed in a minute as have stinky cold.

Whoops have just upset DH, I was so busy reading threads on MN, I had completely shut off from outside world, just looked up to see what was on TV, some film, so I just asked everso politely - "has the rugby finished?" Simple question that just needed a simple answer(well thats what I thought anyway!) Needless to say DH got all huffy saying I never take an interest in his interest!(big time!!!!!)

DumbledoresGirl · 28/09/2007 21:58

Mercy, well, I didn't want to say this to you, but I think it is fair to say that NZ is bottom of dh's list too!

No love lost between those 2 nations is there?

PinkBubble, are you telling me it is over? Dh hasn't come out and told me I can go back yet!

faylisa · 28/09/2007 21:59

It's over!

Piffle · 28/09/2007 22:00

I LOVE RUGBY

Piffle · 28/09/2007 22:00

tigerschick · 28/09/2007 22:05

I LOVE RUGBY TOO - AND I'M NOT A KIWI!!

But England won - Woo Hoo!!!
