Hello

Following on from our Lockdown Links thread, which ran through the early months of the COVID crisis, we're still being sent many links to free, family-focused resources for learning or entertainment - we we're starting a new collection here. (Do check out the older thread if you're looking for diverting links because many of the links on there are still current.)

As before: we haven't tested or verified the links on here, although in lots of cases they are from organisations or people who we know to be legit.

(And of course feel free to add your own too)

Thanks
MNHQ

A free family science magazine from Glasgow Science Centre

They say: 'We have started producing a weekly Family Science magazine for the summer holidays and I wanted to check if this might be of interest to your users.

The magazine was produced in response to feedback that there were many vulnerable families in Glasgow struggling with limited access to the internet and educational activities and our community partners are distributing it as part of a care pack to them.

The content is relevant for everyone and we intend to make a new issue available every Tuesday for the next few weeks of the summer holidays. You can find each issue as it comes out here.'

The Early Years Alliance has launched two new free digital home-learning support services for families with young children.

They say:

"Family Time Tips is a free digital service which provides daily fun, practical tips, advice and activity ideas to promote children’s learning and development directly to parents’ mobiles via WhatsApp.

Daily topics include language and learning through play activities, health and wellbeing tips plus nutritional advice for the whole family, with all resources carefully chosen to positively support children’s development.

Parents receive one message a day via a WhatsApp broadcast message and can opt-out of the service at any point. There is no advertising and parents’ phone numbers won’t be shared with anyone else signed up to the project.
