DH presneted me with this keyring thing tonight. My confident and professional appearance I adopted on him showing me the item did not hide the fact that i had no idea what he was on about. So I had to admit that I never saw one of those before.
It shows how out of touch with the real world I am. I have never seen one before and if i have read about it I didn't envisage it to look like this. I'm supposed to know a bit about computers and indeed I am in charge of the one here at home and often help friends and family with theirs fairly successfully.

DH said he needs a file from this stick thing and as I suspected, I need a driver to read the information on this storage device. I had a look on the Microsoft website and couldn't see anything helpful.

Does anyone have any idea what I am on about? Are these already out of fashion? God, how out of touch with the real world am I? Obviously, at our local mother& toddler groups the subject of such things never occurs

So, what do I do now? Should I let the computer find a driver from Windows update? is there an exact link I could go to and download something?

Any advice much, much, much appreciated.

Do you have the box with the exact model number and brand name? If so search on that, and download from the site. And did it not come with the drivers on floppy disk?

Don't use the automatic MS thing unless you have to - it doesn't always work.

wow, you are so quick!!! Thank you very much.

well, when I stick it in it searches for a driver that's why I need one. I think your computer popsycal might already have the driver installed??

no SenoraPostrophe, i don't have any box or anything, DH got it out of his pocket. Will try the name on google. I am a bit weary of downloading updates from Microsoft, don't know why, but they take ages and don't often work as you say.

apparently he gets lots of these at work from different companies. must be a fashion going around there (??) and they all assume everyone knows how to access these things. I need to open it because DH is working from home and needs to see some files from there.
