... that the models in the photograph illustrating the Mumsnet piece on how to get your sex life back look about 13?
I dunno, maybe I'm just getting old...
Which would explain why I nearly choked on my cuppa when I saw a TV ad for OK magazine, which this week features "Gareth Gates' autobiography". Well that's sure to be a scintillating read...
Born,
Went to school.
Came second in Pop Icon
The end.

lol Willow2, I noticed it too!

anais · 12/09/2002 22:43

Lol, yeah, me 2....

Azzie · 13/09/2002 06:07

Ds's reception teacher is about 12 - can't see how she's managed to get through teacher training and teach for a couple of years at her age ...

Jbr · 13/09/2002 12:32

It won't be the usual autobiography. There are usually two types which come out. This one is more likely to be an official book rather than a "proper" autobiography.

WideWebWitch · 13/09/2002 12:33

Azzie and Willow2, it's a sign that we are all getting old. Think most policemen look about 12 too.

janh · 13/09/2002 15:12

The practice nurse who did my last smear but one lookeds about 15 and had, at the time, an 11-yr-old daughter.

Willow2 · 13/09/2002 16:36

jbr - doesn't really matter does it... he's only been famous for fitten minutes surely there can't be that much to warrant inclusion in OK's tv ad campaign? Then again, OK is hardly serious reading, so maybe I'm missing the point. Either way it made me laugh.

Yes Willow2, I had to have a tooth out the other week and my usual dentist was on holiday, but I was in such agony that I saw the locum...anyway he was about 15, didn't see how he could possibly have done all that training they have to do...almost asked him how old he was but felt it might appear rude! (However he did a good job as the pain has gone, never to return i hope so can't complain...also he was quite nice to look at so that took my mind off the extraction!)

MandyD · 13/09/2002 17:28

Two policemen who came round to take a statement from DP the other day looked like members of a boy band! Very glossy they were, and far too fragrant for 8 o'clock in the morning...!

leese · 13/09/2002 18:29

Willow2 - you missed out 'stopped stuttering' after 'Came second in Pop Idol'. An important omission I think.....!!

XAusted · 13/09/2002 21:05

Most policemen ARE about 12 these days, aren't they? Please don't tell me that's just how they look cos I'm getting old. And what about all those children you see driving cars these days ...

Willow2 · 13/09/2002 21:07

leese - I thought it but didn't say it for fear of a backlash. How sad am I?

I didn't mean to do that - oops.
XAusted - you've just reminded me of my favourite competitive parenting story. A mate of mine regularly meets up with her old postnatal group. One woman really gets up her nose as she is always going on about how blooming gifted her child was. The other day she blurted out "well of course Olivia can drive. No really, she knows exactly how the gears work. It's incredible".
Olivia is not yet 3.

Yeah my dh's sister-in-law is like that! Her dd is a month younger than mine and so much better in so many ways! She said her first word at six months "flower" - how pretentious is that!!! She could go upstairs and downstairs at 8 months, was walking at 12 months, could undress and dress herself at 18 months and was potty trained at 2. No doubt she'll soon be driving and will have passed her Maths GCSE! As for mine, well at least she's fun to be around!

SofiaAmes · 14/09/2002 08:33

Rhubarb, you could act very worried and say to your sil that you are very concerned that if her dd is doing everything years earlier than all other kids, this might mean that she'll be having boyfriends at 10 and pregnant at 12....

Snugs · 14/09/2002 09:17

XAusted - unfortunately the children driving cars in our area are no joke - like the 2 x 14yr olds who drove our car and crashed it when the police chased them

tanyac · 15/09/2002 11:59

Oi you lot! LOL

I am a twenty five year old midwife with loads of specialist experience from busy London hospitals!...
I would prefer to be looked after by myself than a forty five year old midwife from the back of beyond that just left nursing/midwifery school!!LOL!
