Id like to add a shape to a painting on a large canvas Im designing for someone ,but I need ideas on materials to use. The shape will stand outside the edge of the canvas so needs to be durable , so Im thinking card will not be strong enough. I need to be able to cut it out with stanley knife or scalpol attach it and paint it!! Im thinking some kind of wobbly acrylic ( The stuff used for notebooks/folders), but where on earth can I get a huge sheet of it ???????

See I told you it was strange!!

I would tell you but your not on messenger!!!

Seriously though - how rigid does it have to be - how about as rigid as thick card?

Could you use clear perspex from a DIY shop?

It's thicker than the stuff you have in mind and you'd need to borrow a jigsaw or fret saw, but it's quite easy to cut.

Probably a bit to heavy for this project!! and soooooo expensive to buy.

Are you near London? The London Graphic Centre or a large Paperchase has all sorts of materials by the sheet. You could try stencil card (very waxy & strong). How thick does it need to be?

Its in Covent garden the london graphic one.Im in North London, its quite a trip. I LOVE that shop, thankyou for the reminder. Wonder if they deliver!! Oh yes and paperchase may have something.

I think they deliver if you have an account but nothing beats just going there as often you'll see something else that will work IYKWIM.
