Perform or Stagecoach?

Any opinions please?

My daughter had her first Stagecoach session today and really enjoyed it.

The teachers are extremely young, not a day over 20 (at a push) I'd say, which is fine as my daughter is only 5 and they seem great.

I've been doing a bit of surfing and realised there's another local drama group called Perform, so now I'm confused and wondering if anyone has any opinions about the two?

Your dd is 5 so I guess she is in the Early Stages class.

The teachers in that class do tend to be younger than in Main School, partly because they often have an affinity with the younger age group and are maybe all rounders. In Main School the teachers specialise in one subject. It is also good to be able to fit around further training/professional jobs.

I have no experience with Perform except that I beleive they only cater for the younger age group.

The things I think you need to consider are:

Who oversees the classes? Is there someone always on hand to deal with emergencies etc. Who makes sure that proper procedures are followed and the teaching is good?

Child Protection, ask to see CP policies, how often are staff CRB checked.

How are shows/presentations handled. Do you have to pay for costumes or tickets?

What qualifications/experience do the teachers and person running the classes have?

Thanks Islandofsodor, you mentioned a few things I hadn't really thought of! They have the credentials and they're CRB checked so I'm not worried about that. The teacher is the daughter of the principle, she seems to know what she's doing. There was just one thing, when they tried to play a complicated game the teacher couldn't really explain it too well and the younger kids were completely lost. Again, I didn't really mind this but I was just wondering how Perform is different, if at all.

I'll probably stick with SC as it was a small class (5) and it's a convenient location!

But if anyone has any opinions on Perform please let me know!
