Lisa78 · 06/10/2004 19:14

Lisa78 · 06/10/2004 19:18

How sad are we? LOL

GeorginaA · 06/10/2004 19:33

sulk ... I just tried that and got a "number not in use" error. pout

KangaMummy · 06/10/2004 19:34

georgina have you got 1571 set up?

CleanKittyCat · 06/10/2004 19:38

I found about this early in August when ds got a "text" from his great uncle to wish him happy birthday.

Haven't tried it myself though.

GeorginaA · 06/10/2004 19:46

Yes, we have 1571.

Tinker · 06/10/2004 19:49

Oh I've just done it. How exciting! Simple pleasures

Tessiebear · 06/10/2004 19:50

just tryed this and my phone said "Message not sent try again later" We have 1571

GeorginaA · 06/10/2004 19:52

Which mobile phone networks are you all on... I'm on Orange.

Tinker · 06/10/2004 19:53

Vodaphone

GeorginaA · 06/10/2004 19:57

Ah... done some research. It appears T-Mobile & Vodaphone have that facility. O2 and Orange doesn't appear to work with yet

GeorginaA · 06/10/2004 19:57

Oh and it also seems that you need a BT or Telewest landline.

misdee · 06/10/2004 19:59

we are on 02 tho. with bt line.

OP posts:
GeorginaA · 06/10/2004 20:00

Ooo... perhaps O2 have recently rolled it out? glares at Orange

KangaMummy · 06/10/2004 20:02

we are 02 [pay and go talkalot] and BT

GeorginaA · 06/10/2004 20:08

Here you go, an article on The Register about it...

GeorginaA · 06/10/2004 20:12

And Another which goes more into the voice synth stuff and potential uses for the technology.

We have one of those too, Sue (Panasonic digital cordless) but you have to register with SMS and then pay 12p per text - didn't seem worth it when everybody has a mobile anyway!

snmum · 07/10/2004 09:23

oh no, what a bad idea

we will all stop speaking soon and text instead
