petrol stations-how do you queue?

Do you join one big central queue and then move into the right lane when one becomes available or do you queue behind one specific lane. I used to be at complete opposites with DP (specific lane)and do the central thing but can see that when the queue goes back into the street it can cause danger. Confess tho to covering my eyes when DP whizzes past central queuers and gets into a lane

I normally get in a lane behind another pump user - I choose one that has the pump at the right side for my petrol cap.

specific lane all the way. it just makes sense

specific lane, then you can make sure you get the right fuel and the right side for your petrol cap.
Otherwise you might find you are next in line when a left-handed diesel pump becomes free but you can't use it and get in everyone's way...
