Hi,
I just wanted to ask people’s opinions and check if there is anyway round this. We are in a chain and our buyers have always said they would spilt the chain if necessary to give us two weeks between exchanging and completion as they advertised their sale as no onward chain. We needed two weeks due to having a child with additional needs and sorting out school places in a new area. However because of delays partly caused by their solicitor we have agreed to one week between exchange and completion because that is what our lender asks for to ensure the funds are available. They are now asking us to do less than a week meaning we would have to pay for removals before exchanging and risk the money not being there for exchange a couple of days before completion (exchange keeps getting delayed every time it is agreed so far). Are we being unreasonable requesting a week? I can’t see a way round it and our solicitor thinks this is the sensible choice as it is a risk to expect the money to be here in time with less than a week. I thought one week was normal?
